G8 anyone?

Hey guys wife is having another baby so it's time to thin out some of the vehicles. Looking at getting her an new terrain or equinox. Would be trading in the camaro and mustang. Iv considered trading the F150 in on an low milage 09 G8 GT. have for doors and still a rear drive V8.

Anyone on here that has or had a G8 I would love to hear some opinions from people that have lived with one everyday.

So would I but any that are actually for sale that dont have 60+ thousand miles on them are still mid to upper 30 thousands. I couldnt never justify the money on a almost 5 year old car.

I've had one as a DD for over a year now. I like it. With a Cortex tuner it will break the tires loose on the 1-2 shift, but you can still fill the back seat with kids, old ladies, etc. They're pretty unique around me also. The only thing I don't like about it is the gas miliage - mine is good for 15-17 mpg around town. Cruising down the highway I've seen 25+ mpg. Camaro 20's bolt right on with some lower profile tires too:

My tuner had one as a daily driver. He loved his but he had a supercharger on it though. Never gave him any trouble. Nowadays, you can find them for very low $20's. I've thought about getting one myself but I can't decide whether to go for the GT or maybe just shell out an extra $10-15K for a 2008-9 C63 or a IS-F.

Had a G8 GT for about 9 months. Hated it so much we got rid of it.

I mean everything was pretty solid, but for that much horsepower, it didn't "feel like it". Like I couldn't even pass someone on a 2 lane road, it took the transmission like 10 seconds to downshift every time.

Now I'd take a GXP with a stick, but the lower trim levels don't have stick as an option, and I wouldn't wish that terrible auto tranny on anyone.

I'd rather have a 163 HP cadillac CTS Base with a stick.

The other issue is the styling. Its really dating itself.

And no this isn't just a manual vs. auto bashing. I've owned plenty of autos (and own one now) that react. I can't believe how poorly the G8s tranny responds. Maybe a tuner or something could fix it, but I found it almost unbearable on back country roads.

Hope that helps! Maybe the Chevy SS will be within the price needs. Otherwise I'd seriously consider a cadillac CTS. At least here in Cincinnati there are a number of CTS-Vs even in the same price range as a G8 GT (and well under a G8 GXP).

2010 Camaro SS modified extensively. I stretched the body to make it a 4 door, but I swapped in the 3.6L DI V6 for fuel economy. Then I picked up a corvette body around the V8. I also swapped the body for a C2 Z28. (In short I traded it for three cars, a Corvette Z06r, a C2 Camaro Z28, and a Cadillac CTS Summer Performance package 3.6L DI with Aisin 6spd.)

Everyone I've ever talked to who had one said they were some of the nicest cars out there. Problem is the g8GT are still pretty expensive for older cars. Def a nice, powerful, GTO 4-dr.

Call and talk to Mike @ Haddad Motor Sports. He is a site vendor. He has built lots of G8s from mild to very wild. He daily drives a 720RWHP G8 on a forged LSA
