Honestly a little work to the front to make it more aggresive would do wonders for the car and its sales!

Honestly since it is going to be a limited edition and have a gas guzzler tax on it I don't think they are too concerned with how many they sell. I think most dealers will use it to get people in the showroom then steer them to an Impala.

What I mean people will come in looking for one and they will instead steer them towards an Impala... They don't have to actually have one in stock for people to come in to ask about them.

25%? I've seen used Detectives models (plain civilian interior/exterior) with under 10K miles on them sell for 25K. Their hard to find but out there.

I think SS is a nice car but has too much bell and not enough whistle. Back up assist, blind spot monitoring? make these things an option to bring the cost down a little for people not looking for those things and just want a performance sedan. I wanted to buy one for my wife, who loves driving my ZL1, but not for 45K. I could find a used CTS-V with more power for that price.

Me too. Was very disappointed in the unveil after all the 4-door Corvette talk.

I knew the 4-door Vette talk was BS. This thing isn't even close to a 4-door Vette.

It would have been better if they had said "4 Door Camaro" (which it is) but that doesn't have the same pop as saying "4 Door Corvette".

Plus the saying is just what was used to describe the G8 GXP, so since this is updated GXP, I guess the same saying goes

A 2010 article from Motor Trend:

The Four-Door Corvette
Quote:
Several senior General Motors executives are pushing for the Holden Commodore-based Pontiac G8 sedan to come back to America as a high-performance Chevrolet. GM Vice President Bob Lutz describes it as a "four-door Corvette."

"There's a possibility of [the Pontiac G8 coming back as] a high-end Chevrolet sedan that would be sold in limited numbers," Lutz told international media at the Detroit auto show. Volume would be limited because "with the U.S. fuel economy legislation, we just can't afford to sell too many of them."

Lutz is a great fan of Holden's rear-drive Commodore sedan, which is available in several high-performance variants. "The thrill of high-performance driving is unmatched by anything that doesn't have rear drive, bags of torque, and a nice transmission," he says. "I think of it as a four-door Corvette."

Lutz says the Commodore-based Chevy sport sedan could be on sale "well within five years" but declined to be more specific on timing. "I'd prefer to let Holden tell you when they're going to do their next aesthetic job," he said.

Earlier at the Detroit show, Mike Simcoe, the Australian-born head of GM's North American design studio, also hinted that the Pontiac G8 would "probably make a very nice Chevrolet." While at Holden, Simcoe led the design team that developed the Commodore.

"There is absolutely a chance the Commodore could come back to America," says Mark Reuss, the new president of GM North America. "I would love to have that car here."

Pontiac G8 GXP review: Hot-performing '4-door Corvette' racing into oblivion

Quote:
The General needs cars that create excitement to rekindle the squandered cache of its vehicles and the G8 is just the car. Call it a Buick. Call it a Chevy. Call it a GMC truck. Just don’t throw it in the trash. Put it in somebody’s showrooms where it can draw some traffic, create some buzz.

The G8 GXP is essentially a four-door Corvette. It has the Corvette’s 6.2-liter V-8 engine detuned slightly to 415 horsepower. It comes with either the Corvette’s manual transmission or a six-speed automatic. It has a wonderful independent suspension, capable of straightening out tight turns at tremendous speeds without degrading ride comfort into butt-buster territory.

For all of you who would love to have a Corvette but need room for a family, this is --oops, was -- the car for you.

From Car And Driver

2009 Pontiac G8 GXP.
Pontiac launches its four-door Corvette.
Quote:
The 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP is just the sort of four-door Corvette Americans have long prayed for, with sharp steering, fabulous response from the four-piston Brembo brakes, exceptionally balanced and neutral handling, and a simple and classy look to the interior layout and trim—all for a price that undercuts that of a comparable BMW by $20,000.

Typical cop cars in Ca have 125,000 miles on them before retirement.
Ca is broke and cities are holding on to cruisers a lot longer now.
Unfortunately the California Highway Patrol has chosen the Ford Explorer to replace the Crown Victoria.

To be fair, Lutz said that three years ago when nobody was really certain what the future of GM as a whole was, and he doesn't even work for the company anymore.

True. What I was saying was that everyone was calling the G8 GXP a "4 Door Corvette" at the time, not just Lutz. And to why Reuss and others would say the same about the SS today.

My plan is to get one of these used in about 4-5 years when I discard the minivan. Hopefully I can afford one by then. If not, then used Challenger R/T.

Just glad I do not have inflation like that around where I live. You have experienced a 10% inflation jump in four years
