haven't seen a full on electric station like that. But i know of at least one oasis by me that has a single charging station.

Here's a good question.

So, the Supercharging stations are being made for Tesla's...and in fact will be free for life to use. I've been researching the possibility of getting a Tesla, and most of those Supercharging stations will be nationwide by 2015.

What happens when & if other electric cars (or motorcycles like the Zero) become more popular. Will the Supercharging stations allow you to charge those vehicles somehow, and how much will they charge for non-Tesla vehicles?

I believe Tesla stations are Tesla only.

I work for the local electric company and we've alteady put standard charging stations at many locations throughout our service area. Started about 3 years ago and are usually near shopping areas since the hour or two that shoppers are in the stores can result in a reasonable amont of recharge on their vehicles during the time. Ours are not the super charge systems for the Tesla's but expect we'll be adding those soon with Austin being a national high tech center with oodles of entrepreneurs running around with money to invest in the Tesla's and other such exotics.

Yes, they are. My question was more about whether they might eventually charge for other electric vehicles to charge there.

Electric vehicles are likely to become more and more popular, and less expensive over the next 10-20 years.

It's not beyond the realm of possibility that Tesla could turn these charging stations of theirs into "profit centers" by essentially being the station for all types of vehicles. Owning a Tesla just means it's still free.

They might, but I can see them also taking a stance along the lines of 'Want to use our stations? Then buy one of our cars!'
