Because they don't want to certify a new powertrain on a low production car.

Maybe, but I haven't seen too many reds that I like on cars. Most are what I call 'plastic red', pretty self explanatory (and also hard to put into words). For me, a red needs to have something extra. Make it a darker maroon, or throw in some flake, or give it a tint-coat (which usually ends up as a metallic maroon ... ) but a plain, medium red? Meh.

But thats me.

Because it would probably end up costing more than a CTS-V

I usually agree with that statement, but I don't think maroon would pop on this car like VR would...

Yes
Pontiac G8

Chevy SS

Never really noticed how the G8's gauges and steering wheel makes it look like a smiling walrus

Even though it has a lot of things I would like to see changed I still really like it and would love to own one but I wont be able to for that kind of money....
I don't think the SS will get totally embarrassed by the SRT8 in the straight line. Just going off of the G8 GXP specs, the automatic did 0-60mph in 4.4-4.6 sec (depending on the magazine).

-The SS has slightly more tire, 19x8.5 fronts & 19x9 rears compared to the G8 GXP's 19x8 all around.

The SS has the weight advantage
SS-3,975 lbs
Charger SRT8-4,365 lbs

The Charger will most likely win the straight line race, but it will be closer than some think.

BLIMEY! We're being robbed! The new Holden Special Vehicles GTS - the most powerful car ever made in Australia and one of the fastest sedans in the world - will be sold in the UK for less than it costs at home.
Quote:
General Motors' Vauxhall brand unveiled the supercharged V8 sedan in the UK overnight with a pricetag of 54,999 pounds on the road, which at today's conversion rate equates to $86,500 Australian.

HSV announced yesterday the price of the GTS started at $92,990 plus on-road costs, which brings the equivalent drive-away price close to $100,000.

The HSV price disparity comes as the rest of the Holden Commodore range has been slashed by between $5000 and $10,000. The cost of the new HSV GTS meanwhile has increased by $2000 locally.

HSV was unavailable for comment as this story was published. However, Australia's Luxury Car Tax (33 per cent of the cost above $59,133) will likely account for much of the disparity with the UK.

Vauxhall spokesman Simon Hucknall told News Limited overnight that "it hasn't always been the case that the car is cheaper in the UK than Australia. Over the years we've seen currency fluctuations. At the moment it's a lot more favourable for us to have it over here".

The first shipment of HSV GTS sedans is due to arrive in England in December, but the company has modest sales expectations.

"This is a niche vehicle for us," Hucknall said. "Since 2007 we've sold 568 cars." Last year Vauxhall imported a HSV Maloo ute as a demonstrator model and sold just one other.

"This is an enthusiast's car, a halo model for the brand," said Hucknall."It gets a disproportionate amount of press coverage compared to how many we sell. Petrol is a lot dearer here."

A litre of petrol costs about $2.20 in the UK, or six pounds per gallon, which means it will cost the equivalent of about $160 to top up the petrol tank.

Vauxhall, which has used HSV cars in recent years to add some polish to its image, said in its press statement: "Watch out BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, it's back and it's supercharged".

The thunder from Down Under has even found favour among Britain's harshest car critics, Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson, who has praised previous HSV models for their brutish performance, albeit in a comparatively basic package, described as "meat and pie engineering".

Clarkson has previously described HSV cars as being "balls out continent crushers" with enough power "to mess up someone's village pretty good".

I guess its a fair price considering how well laid out it is, but dang, mid 40's for chevys. It's really tough to buy a decent performance car these days if you aren't made of money.

At least they didn't call it a cheVelle.
