I know many in here chime in with the 1LE but I really could care less about handling, I want a car that screams down the 1/4 and in stoplight encounters. If it can take a corner well that's a bonus, and the 392 could. At this point I have been spoiled by the 392 and nothing less than another one or a automatic ZL1 is going to get me excited. But I have to wait and save up a few more $$$ before making my next move.
This, and agreed, very well said.

I wanted an SRT8 but the price point seemed outrageous when compared to the competitors. I recently realized though that the car is not overpriced its over optioned. And everything Stew has stated points that out. Dont get me wrong the extras are cool but that car needs a lower trim level.

The new CORE version is step in the right direction but even those will be 40k. To me its seems they need to ditch more of extras get the price down to about 35-36k let the customer add the non CORE stuff as options.

exactly its a muscle/sports car why would you need it to be so optioned... you don't need heated steering wheel that just retarded or navigation or a hard drive ect.

You first, do you won one to say it is so overpriced and bad. own nope, have experience with, yes, had fun driving them all, certainly. Not aking anything personally and this is the "General Automotive + Other Cars Discussion" I am here because I like the automobile period and respect all that deserve respect as do both the Camaro and Mustang. the Challenger in it's mission and design, is different from the Camaro. Do you know the sales target for the whole Challenger lineup is like 1/3 of a Camaro or Mustang? The SRT represents the top of the line model, it is not looking to bring in everyone with a low price. Is it different from the Camaro in it's mission? Yes, does that make it overpriced? hell no, you get what you pay for and a lot more. Just because your priorities were apparently different when shopping for your car does not mean the one you didn't choose is bad or overpriced, it isn't. And you can ignore me if you want, but you cannot ignore someone who has owned all 3 of the pony/musclecar players.

I feel bad for the chally because it will always be head back due to the viper and now that will be held back because of the ferrari. Not to mention if the chally weighed what a camaro/mustang does it would destroy both of them in a straight line with that engine.

Why would this be the end to the horsepower wars? Am I missing something? CAFE has been around for almost 40 years now and there are now 600+ hp pony cars.

In the 70s the insurance companies waged war I would say they are about to do this again if it keeps going. I imagine the car manufacturers themselves are using these sidelines to file the niche until they meet current research goals, to meet EPA requirements and not make the errors they made in the 70s and 80s. It broke Detroit and I imagine they do not want that again.

Lol, well, thought this one was dead haha, pay attention, i praise GM in posts, I protect GM and Ford and Chrysler, I am a CAR enthusiast, not a brand enthusiast, and it is not arguing just fun banter IMHO.

Give it time, CHallenger is going to a different platform for 15, though at this point it will still be the same size and probably weight, but will be getting that SCed Hemi and will finally be able to use the 8 speed auto. THe Cuda should appear eventually on a much smaller and lighter platform that will be shared with Alfa and could even spawn a RWD sedan replacement for the Avenger. I do hate the fact that manufacturers think they need to hold cars back to protect other cars that really have nothing to do with each other. Honestly, if the Challenger has the same HP as the Viper it is still going to be slower because of weight and really who is crossshopping them? Same with the Viper and Ferrari, who would cross shop them? Also that it happens with Camaro/Vette to. It would have been awesome if GM would offer at least a version of the ZL1 with the full on LS9 to really chomp at the GT500.
