If you go download the PDF yourself it says "450 estimated". The story is either total BS or GM caught it and changed it.

The convertible sheet still lists the original 'estimated' 450/450, but the coupe sheet shows the final figures (hence the removal of the "EST.").

I see it now but it is reversed. The coupe numbers are still estimates and the vert numbers are the new ones.

Im not disappointed if this is true but I was hoping that the new LT1 would top the 392 (6.4L) Hemi in power and torque which is at 470/470.........

The reason why I wanted that is because Dodge needs a kick in the groin.

I was really hoping for 470-480 to be on par of ahead of the SRT-8. Still nice numbers and an awesome car.

The 392 is underrated at 470/470. I've seen dyno charts that would suggest they make a bit over 500.

I believe Fiat uses the same SAE procedure for HP that GM does and the rest of the industry. So "under rated" doesn't mean what it did years ago.

You may see engines that make more than that number, just like you do with LS3s and likely will with the LT1, but the standardized SAE procedure, which is a witnessed test, pretty much prevents over and under rating an engine.

It's just a number. One number. And the only numbers that matter are the ones that are generated when the rubber meets the road. Dodge doesn't have anything to put the 392 into that is lite and agile enough to match any of the C7's important numbers.

The problem is when the LT1 is dropped in the next Camaro and puts out less slightly less while the 5.0 is rumored to hit 475 HP.
