RAM 1500 Diesel September 2013
October at the dealers - should be interesting and give people an option now who do not want the bigger 2500 and 3500 class to pull a mid size boat or camper

Would like a tad more power, but that torque isn't bad.

So the same torque as the ecoboost, but 125 less hp. Wonder what the cost will be?
And why bother with the diesel for those power numbers? |

Less HP but that's okay, Torque is where it's at.

Hell yeah turn up the fuel and slap on bigger turbo and bam you have a 450-500hp 600-650lbft light weight truck. This truck will sell well and be a fun little truck for sure.

Fuel economy is the biggest reason people like diesels - hook a trailer to a ecochicken and one to this diesel and I imagine the spread in fuel mileage will be double digits |

It is not just power number, it is fuel economy, this engine in a grand Cherokee provides 30 MPG highway compared to 24 with the V6.

I might have to jump on this. I have to get better mpg's. Should be interesting. Hopefully since GM owns half of VW Silverado will be getting one very soon

I would like to see Isuzu and GM restart the 4.5L project it had such potential and would of been and awesome alternative. I hear Ford is next from a friend who works there he says they have been testing with an inline but that is all I know. |

Just figured if you towed all the time that people would just get 2500's. I can see the advantage pending the up front cost isn't too bad. Gotta do a TON of towing to make up the cost of diesel over gas. |

The 4.5L Duramax is basically done, it's just sitting on a shelf from what I've heard. Kinda frustrating.
I don't know if it'll need updates at this point but I hope the introduction of the Cruze 2.0TD means GM is going to be more willing to do diesels in vehicles that aren't HD trucks.
