Misleading headline ... Tesla Model S is outselling individual models from the Germans luxury marks. But it is by no means outselling the brands. In March Audi, BMW, and Mercedes sold 13,253, 27,078, and 26,175 respectively. In February it was 10,877, 21,311, and 23,268. Lastly, for January it they sold 10,056, 16,513, and 23,578.

So the lowest selling brand of the three sold more than twice as many cars in its worst month in the 1st 1/4 of 2013 than Tesla did in all 3 combined. I don't know about the rest of you, but I wouldn't really call that Tesla 'beating' those other companies.

Very good point. Though if I remember right didn't Car & Driver give the Tesla S a 99 out of 100 rating?

It wasn't C&D, it was some other place. I can't remember. Maybe Consumer Reports?

I keep seeing more and more of them around town. Once I saw the drag race vs the Viper on YouTube I was sold on the performance. We are considering getting one for around town. Sure beats every other hybrid and electric option out there. Exciting to see what Tesla can do in the future based off their current success.

It was Consumer Reports. Last 99 they gave was the Lexus LS460 I think back in 2007 or so.

It flys in the face of everything that CR hates so I can't help but believe there is bias in their love of a good electric vehicle. A giant touch screen is simply an exageration of everything CR has lambasted Ford (Sync) and Cadillac for over the last few years and to overlook it for Tesla SCREAMS of something.

Also the reasonable discussion would be that the $80,000 Tesla is outselling the Nissan Leaf or even the Chevy Volt..............that would be an interesting and reasonable article.

It's probably because Tesla buyers are rich hipsters that think it's cool to save the environment.

Also having a car that can 0-60 in 3.7 is pretty nice too

I was commenting about the 80k price tag vs. the volt sales. I don't think people that pay 80k care about the 3.7 0-60
