No where to go? He had numerous opportunities to hit that man with his car. Here it is folks. In all honesty, if a freak is coming at me with a hammer, and I have a car, I put my money on me. Which weapon would you choose...the hammer or the PT Cruiser in a fight to the death? Ball peen anyone? I think not. The cops in the video early in this thread did the same. Put the car between you and him, or on top of him, and he is neutralized.

Your answer is better than mine. The PT guy, just like the OP, handled the situation the best.

Also remeber that some states have the "stand your ground" law, if you are somewhere that you have the legal right to be, you DO NOT have the obligation to retreat or attempt to flee. The states with a castle doctrine in place also covers you while you are inside your vehicle because it is considered an extension of your home

If ANY person is approached by an agitated individual carrying a dangerous item with the intentions of assault, you should be in fear of your safety. Yes, the OP did the right thing by fleeing the area, but he also had this option, you wont always be so lucky and have an escape route. Then what? Are you gonna wait to see what happens??

I hope that the answer is NO

Not having the obligation and doing the right thing are not always synonymous!

I meant having cars on all sides of his. He should have parked that PT on the crazy guy's head.

That's an awful easy decision to make when you're looking at the situation from a distance and after the fact and a bit of discussion. And when it's physically possible to do so (big hint: that won't always be the case).

Have you forgotten that the basic instinct for most drivers is to not hit the pedestrian? Granted that this particular individual was a long ways from innocent, but you still have to get yourself past the training of your entire driving lifetime.

Yeah, good call...plus, why be a ***** and not stand your ground? Not killing the guy then and there just leaves him to roam free and assault somebody else....

Hell, standing your ground is just for the weak...I say go full auto and clear the path ahead, why mess around?

Don't forget to, if you shoot at someone, you are responsible for each and every round you fire, you miss your target and take out someone other than your target, you are in deep sheet.. so use your head, if there is a out other than deadly physical force, take the route, driving off into the sunset is not a bad choice considering your missed shot and killing the wrong person.

Police officers level of force is much different to from every day citizens level of force, make sure you read your states laws as to just what you can and cant do and when.
