i may just suck it up and get pro, but i do love that drive encryption.
not that i even store data that's sensitive at all, just makes me feel good about it.
if ultimate isn't offered on that pre-order discount, i'll go with Pro.

Windows 7 is very nice. The company I work for is migrating to it by this time next year from XP. We completely looked over Vista... for obvious reasons.

It's nice to be able to run pretty much everything I need (except stupid Avaya Modular Messaging Management Tools) on a smooth OS. Virtual PC is great too. 64Bit Ultimate rocks.

Hoome Premium will be $119, Professional will be $200 and Ultimate will be $220 I think. The only difference between pro and ultimate is bitlocker.

I could never get the thing working.

The beta (version 7000) i think never booted up.

When I tried it in VMware, it didn't recognise my keyboard.

that's odd. cause i did it on a 5+ year old system and on a brand new one and it worked fine for both. Did you get it from the windows site or a torrent? Did you burn it as a disc image to install it?

Translation: I'm about to install the release candidate (RC), which is the version that is the closest to the final production version, on a virtual machine (VM), which is a "virtual" computer inside of another computer.

better?

Yea it's a retail encryption program for if you don't trust the windows proprietary encryption.
