I try and keep it at the top hash, since these engines eat oil.

Looks like my can will arrive friday, so my intake manifold install is a go!
Can anyone help list what I need because one of the threads on the install I had bookmarked is gone... It has the mace 25mm spacer already installed without a gasket, it looks like it was rtved on. I bought it from usafboy and mace installed the spacer so I think its on there good. Do I reuse the stock gasket on the bottom? I mainly need to know what tools I need though, something about a 13mm swivel wrench? |

A wrench like this helps quite a bit for the two rear horizontal bolts: http://www.lowes.com/pd_338386-25428-85707_4294707917__?productId=3387680&Ntt=ratchetin g+swivel+wrench&pl=1ĪtURL=%3FNtt%3Dratcheting%2Bsw ivel%2Bwrench&facetInfo=

No. The OEM gasket seals just fine by itself. The gasket has two small bosses on the bottom that properly locate it to the block/heads, and to help keep it in place as the manifold is placed on top. Also - I thought I should mention - the rear bolt needs to be inserted in it's hole in the manifold/spacer before the assembly goes in. It's a little awkward, but there's no way to get it in later. You'll see what I mean when you disassemble - you won't be able to pull that bolt out by itself, the cowl is in the way. Your assembly might be a little trickier since you're installing the 1" thick piece. I hear it's kinda tight up by the cowl with that spacer installed.

I have the 1" and yea it'll be a lot tighter in the cowl area. It's extremely beneficial to get the wrench because it allows you to tighten that area up easier after you get everything lined up. Since you already have the insulator rtv'd to the manifold, the install will be a piece of cake to you. The hardest part was getting everything to line up correctly for me. You have the longer bolts right?
It should be easy. Just take out the existing manifold, and replace with the one you have. Piece of cake. |
