2009 Chevy Aveo - mechanical issue question

My girlfriend's mom's 2009 Chevy Aveo is having some mechanical issues. It's not starting (completely dead), the locks keep going on and off, and the lights went on and off a few times. The locks were still locking and unlocking when the key was out of the ignition. I have not seen the car in person, it's at her work parking lot 45 minutes away from me. She's leaving the car overnight and getting a ride home, so I was checking to see if anyone could diagnose it for me to possibly fix tomorrow.

I'm assuming the locks are going on and off on their own?

I would look at the ground and power wires off the battery, sounds like they may be loose or possibly corroded. That's where I'd start and go from there.

My Vue has low voltage lockout protection, if the voltage gets too low it automatically unlocks the car. It happened on my Vue just a couple weeks ago. I replaced the battery now all is well. Maybe that is what is happening. The voltage is right on the borderline of being too low.

Thanks guys. Hopefully going out there after work to try and get it running. I'm going to check the battery first, and then check the fuses.

I would check the cells of the battery, if ones dry you can throw some water in there to get you to where you need for a new battery, it really sounds to me like you're having trouble with a wire staying connected tho...

I had a similar problem with 09 aveo that the local GM dealer charged me $600 in could be fixes. I had a friend of at a chrysler dealer look at it and found there was a problem with the communication interface module. This cost another $560 to replace which seems to have fixed the problem.

She has had a lot of fuse and electrical related issues with the car. To the point where I think she would be better off with a different car.

Anyways, an update, I went out there last Friday, spent 2+ hours between round-trip driving and helping her out. We jumped the car, and it has been running fine ever since.
