Camaros, mustangs and respect.
I'm always reading here and on SVT forums how drivers of the other cars are jerks etc. I suspect it is the approach. When you see another car enthusiast approach warmly and comment positively on their car. Chances are you'll get the same response. Sure Camaros and Mustangs are meant to compete, but that doesn't mean we have to be standoffish or jerks to each other. Ford vs. Chevy forever!

I will forever like Camaros more than Mustangs, but I can enjoy a nice car when I see one, whether that be a Mustang or any other type of car

I always respect the competition unless they come off as a d-bag, then I'll act like a d-bag |

I've always thought the "other car-type owners are jerks" thing is mostly from people who don't know what they are talking about. A lot of them are boy-racers in my opinion, who want to be part of a rivalry to feel like one of the guys

and the same goes for chargers and challengers. I can't stand Chrysler, and would never buy one. but seeing an "RT" badge gets instant respect from me.

I've honestly never instigated anything on the road and I never respond to taunts to race or requests to rev my engine or do a burnout. It's not beyond me though to chit chat with any muscle car owner for a quick moment at the gas station just to say hi and see what they've done to their car and take a moment to appreciate it.
The Mustang owners around here seem quiet, Challenger owners are cool, Same for the Cobra crowd. The pickup truck goofs and other Camaro drivers however are well...they are are a different story. |

I attended my town's first car show last summer. I had the only 5th gen Camaro. Not even a 1st gen sadly :( There were about 100 cars all together. I was parked near 3 newer Mustangs. The people right next to me were really friendly, they even asked me how I got my car so clean! Really great older couple. The guy with a newer 5.0 Mustang on the other hand was very short with small talk, not really all that friendly. It's really the person, not the car.
You can see part of their white California edition Mustang in my signature

I have however noticed that the 5th gen Mustang owners are usually ruder than the 5th gen Camaro owners in real life. On forums, Challenger people are usually the nicest and most helpful.
I've always liked the 4th gen Mustang A LOT more than the 4th gen Camaro. |

Car show for me last night...Guess who was the guy that wanted to compliment my car the most?...It was a Mustang guy with a "one of seven" Carrol Shelby retro-fitted
s/c 2006(?) GT-500...His car was in another dimension compared to mine, and one of the nicest guys I've met at car shows... Mopar guys were all cool as well....Car people and what they drive, are all over the map....Most have driven and/or seen all the other makes "in action"....Rivalries are a good thing, but only if they are "friendly" and out of mutual respect... |
