Need help from Mustang owners ASAP

My Wife's Son has a 2002 Mustang GT. Today for some reason the RPMs started going up at idle, to around 2500rpms then when he stops and shuts it off and restarts it it idles normally until he gets back on the road again it starts all over again. It's the 4.6 5 speed. There was a code in the computer for the IAC, and a pending code on the TPS. We have changed the IAC and the TPS. No change, but codes have not returned. We have checked for vacuum leaks and found none. We have also checked to see if the Throttle body or acellerator cable were sticking...He bought this car used so he does not know if it has a tune on it.
He is desperate for ideas because this was their only running car.

Please help if you can ASAP.

The problem is that it's a Ford
My cousin owns the same model so I'll ask him if he has seen or heard of this before.

I had a similar problem with my camaro when I first bought. It may be a long shot but try the sensor for the fuel tank. Sorry don't recall the name of it but it controls the pressure or something. It kept coming up as a evac leak. Dealer kept thinking I wasn't tightening the gas cap tight enough and finally found the real problem, the sensor.

Clean the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner and clean the throttle body with TB cleaner. If the TB is dirty you can get a TPS code. CRC makes both of the cleaners.

Done both of those too with no effect. We took it by a repair shop and the owner said to swap out the Advance Auto IAC for a Motorcraft one. He said the Advance ones have been known to even have issues when new. So we went to the ford dealer and had to order one. All indications point to the IAC valve sticking.

Well we got the new IAC valve from the Ford dealer this morning and put it on..... That fixed it. The cheap one we got at Advance wasn't any good and made us waste 3 days trying to fix it... Never again... It was the first part we changed, and the last....

Yeah, I always go with OEM parts and skip the others. You get what you pay for. Not always, but most of the time that holds so true.
Glad you guys got the problem fixed!
