depends on the type of driving your doing.performance driving you shift it higher in the rpm range...around town driving, shift it where it sounds good.don't worry about the trans...it won't let you do anything too stupid....

I have actually forgotten I had it in manual mode and tromped it and hit the rev limiter a few times. But has only happened since I changed the exhaust out....

It's RPMs not speed that you should be watching and matching those to your driving style. Usually for city driving I would shift around 3k.

I see I am not the only one that has done that. Had it in sport mode coming home from work after I first got it. Passed a few cars before I got home. Stopped at a stop sign stepped on it and as it hit the limiter I was thinking what is going on, why isn't it shifting. Re-read the manual and didn't realize it will downshift but not upshift. Even after I read the manual I still have done it because of my short term memory. I myself will put it in S mode and not even use the paddles because it shift more aggressively when I get on it. If I use the paddles I shift at whatever RPM I feel like it at the time. It won't let you upshift if the RPM is too low and on the other end the rev limiter will stop you. When I am done horsing around with the paddles in S mode I usually pop it into D right away. I even use the paddles in D sometimes when I pass someone so I don't have to step on it so hard to get it to downshift. Dean. |

For good gas milege shift when you are about to reach 2000 rpm. For performance run it all the way up to 6500 rpm.

Shift speeds (rpm) is dependent on acceleration.
If you're just cruising along, you might shift at 2500 rpms. But if your running wide open hauling axx, you'll want to shift close to red line. |
