I wonder how much this would run as a crate engine for LLT guys that want to do a swap.

That said...that LT1 is freaking awesome. As Gretchen said earlier...420HP 430 TQ is not pushing it in the LF3. Hell, it can go well past that easily. We see it all the time with forced induction on the LFX which is a fairly tough engine, but has a couple weak points you have to watch out for once you start climbing near the 500 bhp range. The LF3 is stronger so I'm sure it could handle 500 without much issue. More in depth info about it here: http://wot.motortrend.com/cadillacs-...th-343443.html

But we don't know very much about either engine, just yet....and if BMW is moving to a turbo 6 for their M3 (and they are)...I believe it makes sense for Cadillac to beat them at their own game. |

Also, not saying this engine will be Cadillac exclusive forever, but GM may have wanted to develop an engine solely for Cadillacs. There are those out there who would rather their luxury sedan not be powered by a Chevrolet engine, as asinine as that sounds.
As of now there aren't plans (as far as I know) to use it anything but Cadillacs, so...

Can you even consider the new LT series a Chevy engine? It's more like a GM engine.

They are all corporate engines now, it's been that way for a long time, it started in the 70's when they started putting Chevy engines into Oldsmobiles.

Just to give you and idea of the difference in cost between a TTV6 and large V8, go price an F150 with the different engines. It is actually cheaper to get one with the Ecoboost than the 6.2L V8 and you get similar power (be sure to take in account the cost of options that are required). Ford claims a $750 cost difference (for the customer) over the 5.0L engine. Given that the resale value of the Ecoboosts are about $1,600 more than the 5.0, that seems to be a good choice for Ford and the consumer. I'm thing have the choice of a LT1 and LF3 is going to be a good option for GM and it's buyers as well.

I'm not only excited to see the new CTS, but this engine should be a blast, plus sticking this in the XTS, and possibly ATS...!
