This. You don't knowingly bring a knife to a gun fight (unless you got an Uzi under your coat :-)) < that's an analogy folks

And just for the record, the Hennesey jumped the light on that vid. He definitely went before the last beep.

Try to keep this fact in mind:

Some guy just wrecked his new Z06 corvette and almost had his head chopped off and he looks age 50 or higher.

Please do not join the same club as that guy with the corvette. If you do choose to race the guy with the Chevy Avlanche (with Caddilac emblems), I promise you are one step closer to joining the "Z06-guy-who-almost-was-decapitated-club".

It's not worth it. Just ignore your coworker who views his 5500 pound suv as a corvette. He sounds like a goof ball.

He still shouldn't race him even at a certified race track. That does not mean the race will be safe.

What happens if the guy in the Cadillac loses control and wrecks into the Camaro. (or vice versa.)

Then what? Then you BOTH instantly join the corvette-beheaded-club. Two wrecked cars, hospital bills, tons of stupid problems, maybe even death.

That is my advice but definitely do what you have to do.

I was driving a Corvette Z06 (C5 version so only 400 HP) on Woodward Avenue. Kid pulls up next to me in a Ford Probe revving his engine. I rolled down the window and asked if he was serious and didn't he see the badge on the front fender displaying the HP number (they did that on the C5 Z06). He says.........................wait for it.............................."I've got Nitrous, mannnnnnn".

Beware of the Nitrous, mannnnnn

Back on topic, you should beat him if its a stock escalade, although maybe he was playing around and bet 1,000 "dollhairs".
Well, it says that the HPE1000 Escalade does 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. Stock GTR does it in 3.4. That Escalade does the quarter mile in 11.3 seconds; GTR in 11.8. It was a close race. But yeah, they could have easily not driven the GTR as fast as they could.

The Escalade runs the 6.2L but, but as stated it is near 6,000 pounds, and while it has more torque and AWD, it won't hold to a Camaro. If he is purely stock (and a tune doesn't really mean much in them)

Had one try and jump me last week, he thought he would be slick and pass a line of cars on the right using the right turn only lane, and jump me at the light, he managed to hang with me for about 3 feet and I smoked his stupid ass.

he went WOT and he pushed it trying to run me out of my lane, I even hesitated and didn't go full WOT, just enough to blow past him. Since he couldn't pass me to merge over he got stuck in the parking lane behind parked cars.. All that traffic behind me sat in that lane for 30 minutes trying to get through that intersection and he decided he was special and was going to slip by all of us, no one was going to let him in.

Having owned the Avalanche version of the Escalade I can tell you they are gutless wonders, massive power for towing, but the gearing is for $hit when it comes to spooling up to pass someone.

What if you walk out your front door and a rabid raccoon bites you, you get rabies, and die? Should you never leave your house for fear of a rabid raccoon?

OP as long as you're able to look under the hood of that Cadillac before you race. You should be good as gold. Spend the 1k wisely, like maybe some mods. Your car won it might as well put the winnings back into it.
