I think I've worn IFR hoods that have better visibility than that canopy!

^ Sorry can't get video to play and other one says private. :(

From Pacific Aviation Aviation Museum Pearl Harbor.(must visit)

This day in aviation history (March 6, 1942): the Army Air School at Tuskegee, AL graduated the first 5 black military pilots. George Roberts, Benjamin Davis Jr, Charles BeBow Jr, Mac Ross and Lemuel Custis were the first of nearly 100 Tuskegee aviators to complete Army flight training and receive their silver wings. Pictured here is Tuskegee Airman, founding member of Tuskegee Airmen Hawaii, and Pacific Aviation Museum volunteer Philip Baham with his Congressional Gold Medal.

Now that I'm done putting the photos on my site with normal processing, it's time to mess around with some HDR stuff. Not to everyone's taste, but just messing around.

Very nice as usual.

You know as of today that Paint Scheme on Precious Metal is now stripped. New one awaits

GLASS C0CKPIT CESSNAS!? Wow, I've been gone for awhile! Nice to see 152s still in use. I was disappointed in training when I had to change FBOs and "downgrade" to 150s and later 152s. (My wallet wasn't sorry.) But I fell in love with those "barn door" flaps on the 150, and the STOL package 152 that I got to buzz around in did wonders for my landings! Dreaded the words "expedite your approach" though...

Those are all 172SPs

Well except for 280ME..I was flying that one in the video that's just a round dial S model.

Auburn uses R model round dials for private training and a good bit of commercial training...also the first half of instrument training. Last half of instrument training is in glass (which is SOOOO nice to shoot approaches with)

Flying team gets to use all glass which is nice too. We get our flight hours by washing Auburns fleet of planes. We go out every Sunday and practice for a couple hours followed by a couple hours of plane washing. 1 washed plane = 1 hour of flight time.

A flying competition using glass?!? Thats almost like cheating! Well, maybe, I guess other schools probably use glass too. I trained back in the day on the 172S as well, but glass wasn't available then. Thats a pretty good deal for an hour of flight time as well. If it takes you an hour to wash one plane thats like getting paid $100 an hour! Not too shabby.
