Spied: 2015 Cadillac ATS-V

Spied: 2015 Cadillac ATS-V
LeftLaneNews

March 8, 2013

After months of rumors, our spy photographers have just sent us the first hard evidence that Cadillac is working on a hardcore ATS-V performance sedan to take on BMW's next-generation M3.

Spotted undergoing shakedown testing in the Western United States, this prototype has all the telltale signs of a Cadillac V-series product. Up front's you'll notice Cadillac's signature V-series mesh grille, with this particular prototype wear wheels and tires borrowed from the CTS-V. It remains unclear at this point if those wheels were fitted out of convenience or if they're indicative of the final design.

Behind those 19-inch rollers reside larger brakes not typically found on run-of-the-mill ATS models. Judging by the size of the caliper and disc, the ATS-V should have some serious stopping power.

Out back the ATS-V sports dual exhaust outlets that appear to be slightly bigger than the ATS' standard units.

Photos at the link.

That's a lot of steak on those back tires. Is the plan to use a twin turbo V6? I feel like that's what I've read.

It'll probably be the LF3, at least that's what the last rumor said.

All I want is AWD. I would seriously consider one if there was just AWD in a V.

6 pistons for a 400hp TTV6? Doubt it. Also.... "Look at these pictures we took with ear plugs in so we can't tell you what engine is in the car"

Hrrmm...very cool, but also strange because of this:

MotorTrend also just posted an article with spy shots they believe is the ATS-V

http://wot.motortrend.com/spied-2015...#axzz2MyKNx6VL

The car MT shows has black rims, different camo, and quad exhaust which is different from the car linked in the first post here. They also say the car had an impressive exhaust note which seemed more V8 than V6.

I'm excited about this, but now I'm wondering if these are both ATS-Vs, or not. (or really, if maybe they just don't have different engines for testing perhaps?)

Fen...what say you?

If they are wanting to approach current CTS-V levels well then the TTV6 won't do it (b/c even though a TTV6 can go that high, I don't seem them doing it from the factory). Otherwise if they want to be in the 400 - 450 range a TTV6 would be great. MT also suggests it could be the 3.0 litre TT V6. I hope that is not true and it is instead the 3.6 (which is what the LF3 is correct?)

Otherwise I see them throwing the new LT1 V8 in there and calling it a day.

I don't think that the car in the Motortrend pictures looks like an ATS. They may have caught the new CTS-V and not realized it. To add even more confusion to it all, the V8 will fit in the ATS.

I tried comparing certain parts of each car like the rockers, mirrors, windows, and they look the same, so I'm thinking they are both the ATS-V, but I could be wrong there.

They both look the same to me. Other than the obvious.

They're both ATS-Vs. Perhaps GM is testing different exhausts.

ughh.. don't really like Forced Induced engines, even in my Audi TT

Why can't they just shoved the LT1 in, I rather them mimic the C63 AMG
