I'm the oldest fart posting so far - 48

. No kids so a 2 seat sports car works. And bang for the buck, the 'Vette is untouchable. Since I just beat lung cancer in 2012 I'm buying because I want the car (was honestly all set for a S4 or to possibly wait for the new M3/M4). Saw the reveal and that was basically the end of the decision process.

Just comes down to the coupe now or wait a year for the 'vert and/or 8 speed auto. Porsche has always been on my dream list but honestly, a friggin' Boxster loaded up now is $85K or better! Not to mention $500 oil changes and $140/hour labor charges for service :nono:

A Porsche has been on my bucket list since a kid. The older I get the less I like those cars and the more unobtainable they seem as time goes by.

I could buy a decent used one but once I laid my eyes on the jet looking cockpit of that c7? Porsche what???

Ditto. Brand new revolutionary

is better than an unobtanium new or even a recent pre-owned Porsche... and I love P-cars but the new Stingray is a better bang for the buck IMO.

That's an awesome story there. I completely agree, I love Porsches but the fact that I can't work on it if I want to hurts it. Although I am a big fan of the S5 and M3.

The S5 is one sexy car, no doubt. And Audi's S-line is one very slick DCT. But for $60K, the C7 should blow the doors off it and look good doing so. Plus be a lot easier to work on with cheaper parts from your friendly, local Chevy dealer.

C7 looks to be a great bang for the buck... -2 seats is the tradeoff of course. Having owned & maintained a M3 and an AMG, I'm also a big eurocar enthusiast and I can also relate to your experiences regarding upkeep costs. My family as well had their hair-pulling shares of costs... 944 Turbo, 928S4, a Boxster, and a 540i = large repair bills. :sad:

very simple solution...

never keep anything new for more than a year or two. especially foreign (i half gagged when i had my `12 m3, came in for the m service and they swapped by mistake my covered service point for someone elses new window motors @ $1,700...)
