I don't know if I'm trying to win an argument as much as certain people have continued to bump this thread with an "I don't care" message every time. It's like they are so happy the Ravens won the Super Bowl that they need to do an "in your face" moment by adding in Ray Lewis.

I have no problems talking about and disliking actions of players on my team. I remember several of the incidents you talked about. The difference is, many of those people weren't glorified and discussed the way Ray Lewis was, and about how great a human being he is/was. Most of those players went on and did their job but didn't rub it in the publics face. That, to me, is what Ray Lewis has done with his dance, etc.

As I've said before, this isn't anything against the Ravens, and I congratulate them on the SB win. Ray Lewis, on the other hand....ya'll know my opinion

And, it's the "I don't care" attitude here and in this country that is a little bothersome. See my thread on the subway stabbing guy as an example of how a news story like that gets buried.

Yep...life can be sad sometimes...because some people just don't care.

Maybe it's because my mom passed away recently. Maybe because of that I put the value of life & death in perspective. Yes, I'm sad...because I realize how precious life is.

Maybe other people understand that too. Unfortunately, it seems some people don't.
... The most epic response. Ever!

My mom died of cancer 4 years ago, my little sister took her life 8 years ago. My daughter had a heart transplant when she was 7 days old, we we're told she would be lucky to see 12 years of age. She is now 16 she will be 17 in April..

I for one know the value of life but I also know we as humans make mistakes and many learn from them and do good things.

If we locked up everyone forever for the bad things they have done more then half of America would be locked up..the others just didn't get caught..

Do you support this country? I'm sure you do, your an American right? Do you believe all that help run this country have not made the decision to do bad things? Wether it's murder or moving illegal drugs or weapons. I'm sure if we the public knew the truth about many things we would be sick to our stomach..

But yet we stand behind our flag and believe in it..

Hate and racism is the biggest cancer of our world. You have the choice to feed it or move on and enjoy the life that you are granted everyday...

Peace...

first, sorry about your loss, but congrats on your daughter!

second, are you saying if you don't like Ray Lewis, then you don't like America, or are not a good American? lol Kind of how you are coming off, with your post. Also seems like you think everyone that kills someone for the first time, or is an accomplice the first time, it was just a mistake, and letting them off is ok.

Ray Lewis in the interview basically used the same logic, but instead of using the "American" approach, he put it into terms that his innocence was unquestionable because he was 'god's instrument', and if people only knew god, then they would KNOW he could never be a part of any wrong doing. FAIL!

No thats not what I meant but I do see looking back on my post how it would come off like that..

I will always back America wether I like what is being done or not being done.. I will take the good with the bad. All I know is I do my best to be the best person I can in my community, as well as work..

I don't have a silver platter past growing up. When I was young I was a mess with drugs and alcohol. I wasn't the best person to be around, but I found my way cleaned up my act, have a great wife with two wonderful children. I have a good job and pay my way through life..

As far as Ray Lewis, I don't have a problem either way with him. I loved watching him play the game and that is it. as far as the problems go, well I don't know him personally nor was I there to judge him on what had happened. I will just leave it at that.

People make bad choices now and then some worse then others. They have to live with there own skeletons. I just hope that out of the bad, people find a good path to live by.

I think the man is screwed. People that skate freely from their evil deeds rarely learn to straighten themselves out and I never got the impression Ray Lewis was an intelligent and rationale human being. There is only 1 thing that made him special and that was football and now it's over. Many retired players that are smarter and better people than Lewis struggle with life after football and Ray will be no exception. He'll destroy himself. Either he'll end up dead or make a mistake he can't get away with (just like O.J.) and the next group of lawyers that go after him will make damn sure he doesn't fly away twice.

I don't hate the man or hope he falls but too many times people like Lewis don't end up having a prosperous future when the glory days are a distant memory. He's on borrowed time.

of curse, we're all just guessing here, but I disagree. He grew up in an area that was much different from my upbringing, so I can't necessarily blame him for any gang involvement when he was young, but he certainly has learned to focus his energies elsewhere since the incident. he'll be commentating on ESPN, I'm sure he'll continue his charity and community work and the guys a marketing machine so I'm guessing he'll continue to find positive outlets for his boundless energy and remain a model citizen. no news is good news.

If he pulled that off it would be a perfect example to set for players coming in to the league and people in general who are at risk to make those same mistakes. I would even consider that atonement.

That isn't anything I would need as a spectator or a fan of the league but something other people can benefit from.

Basically, money buys freedom and redemption.

That was the hypothetical good if things play out to what atma thinks and how it would be an example for others to use before they slip up themselves. For Lewis I seriously think he'll screw up again and baby Jesus and ESPN won't be able to save him. He'll be taking showers with O.J. Simpson.

I'll wager Brutal's hairline I'm right.
