I can't tell you how many craigslist ads I see like that. I don't think gear-heads are more illiterate than people from different walks of life, nor do I think there are more illiterate people these days than in days previous. IMO we're just seeing how many folks lack basic grammar skills due to the rise of social media.
Don't laugh b/c he's illiterate, laugh b/c he's stupid. Stupid and illiterate are very different things. My neighbors are well educated, but are dumber than a box of rocks.

Quick translation: (not my best, but somewhat easier to read :p)
I have a 96 Mustang GT with a 5.4 big block V8 for sale. It has: - Roller cam. - Tremec transmission with a lucky gear kit - 411 posi track - Dual thumper exhaust - shit lights - cold air intake - Aftermarket hood - 5 speed Needless to say, a lot has been invested in the car. The interior looks good, although the body needs a touch up. I am selling it for $4,500. If you come see the car, I might drop the price a bit. If I go show you the car the price will stay the same. Keep in mind, if I go show you the car and you don't want it, you will pay for my gas. Trust me, you will pay for it. To be fair, I will pay for your gas if you come see the car and don't want it. The car runs great, shifts good and it is very fast. It has around 340 HP. I have pics, but I don't know how to upload them on craigslist. I would also be interested in trading for a 240sx or 300zx or a Civic but it has to be nice and have modes. I am open for other trades, just text me. The whole, "trust me, you will pay..." thing is something seen in Craigslist ads... pretty frequently (Don't even get me started on the grammar/ spelling issues... tires have great threads, and are size 18. Moter runs goods. paint is a little shipt but still not to bad... you've all seen it). But, it's the ATTITUDE: "Don't piss me off and waste my time calling if you are not going to buy this." WTF? Really, I'm gonna call, and risk some nut going all medieval on me if I choose not to purchase the piece of crap after looking at it? Or, "I don't f**k around with you, so don't f**k with me. Only call if you are fer reals." Or, "No discussion about price, so don't bother asking or I will hang up immediately." Do these "salers" have any idea that in order to get people to respond to the ad, they need to indicate just the slightest bit of business acumen... and NOT be aggressive, insulting, threatening, or demanding? Ahhhh... silly uneducated people.
Oh well... at least this guy did say that he'd pay for gas if you CAME TO him... |
