I mean not to race the Baja 1000 but to take it down to Baja and be able to have some fun with it off the pavement in the Baja desert...NOT !
For 50 grand you should be able to get more than the image of a Baja truck.
I'm sure any Toyota Tacoma with TRD package/Bilstein shocks would have survived that jump...
I am sorry, the Raptor is a VERY good offroad package, better the TRD Tacoma, if someone is stupid enough to think ANY off the showroom big manufacturer vehicle could handle a jump like that or the Baja 1000 deserves all the damage to their vehicles and pockets as they get.

Well the SVT Chief engineer kind of implies the stock Raptor could handle the Baja.
Its a little bit more than marketing talk! Plenty of basically STOCK Raptors have completed and if not won thier classes in both the
BAJA 1000 and Paris - Dakar

That is waht the truck is built for not taking 60 mph 15ft high ramp jumps...

Pretty impressive for a nearly stock truck.

and this is impressive

"Modifications to the FabSchool/General Tire Raptor (Truck No. 374) to prepare it for Dakar included an ARB locker, King Shocks at each corner and wheels from Walker Evans Racing. Inside, there are Cobra seats with Crow harnesses. Under the hood, the 5.4-liter V-8 Raptor is mostly in factory form except for a pair of Odyssey batteries and Royal Purple Racing oil."

When I posted the quote from the Chief Engineer it was not what I think, as it seems some of you feel, but since the Chief Engineer said it I can imagine that dealers when they sell one tell customers how tough they are and are virtually indestructible. And evidently these morons believed every word.

This is a pretty weak argument. No, obviously it is not a Baja truck from the factory.

But what it certainly isn't is built to take a jump at twice that jump's intended speed, at full throttle, and pancake land with a force hard enough to blow out the tires.

If you took a half million dollar built truck and push it far beyond it's intended purpose, no matter how well it is built, the results will be catastrophic. Any professional driver who has done it will probably tell you the same. They do destroy hundreds of professionally built trucks a year while racing by pushing too hard you know? If you put these two rocket surgeons in a built Baja truck, they would destroy it too, only that time they would probably kill themselves as well.

The video is funny because the driver is an idiot, not because the truck failed to do what it is supposed to do. Nobody builds stupid-proof.

Funny... have you heard of a class 11? you should see those cars finish the baja with 1/4 of the wheel travel and clearance that a raptor has.

The raptor can go from showroom to race (with a roll bar) no question about that, will it handdle a jump like that? only a moron would say yes.
But a raptor can definitely run the Baja 1000.

Im not saying that you can compare the raptor to a trophy truck or a class 1, but that's why the baja has different classes, so that anyone can compete, it doesn't matter if you have a 1,000,000 dollar truck a 50,000 dollar truck or a 5,000 class 11.

Normally I'd just blow you off as a generic retard, not a Canadian or American retard.... just a run of the mill tard boy. (Not the genetically disabled folks, they're pretty decent compared to you.)

..... yeah, I think I'll let you have your opinion, and I'll keep my opinion about you quiet.

Have a good day.

Same with Paris-Dakar...the stocker would have been toast after jumping the first dune or do you think the car that won this years Dakar was a stock MINI Cooper...
Hopefully the boys on the Raptor forum will never see this video as for sure it would crush their fragile egos like it crushed the real thing...

Anyways the Raptor is obviously more show than go...
Build FORD-tough,but not tough enough foir real rednecks or the Baja...
But tough enough for looking good at Starbucks to impress the ladies...
But those would you prefer driving a PRIUS anyways...

I don't know what Baja you've been to, but the one I went to with FST the last two times, there was no jumps like the one that the retard in the OP's video did. And the Dakar Rally is a tough race as well. That truck was slightly modified. If you think that the Raptor is all show and no go, you're more blind that you can imagine. The truck is not made for 90 foot jumps, but it handles off road adventures quite well.

And I've posted it before, but here are the modifications to the Dakar truck

Modifications to the FabSchool/General Tire Raptor (Truck No. 374) to prepare it for Dakar included an ARB locker, King Shocks at each corner and wheels from Walker Evans Racing. Inside, there are Cobra seats with Crow harnesses. Under the hood, the 5.4-liter V-8 Raptor is mostly in factory form except for a pair of Odyssey batteries and Royal Purple Racing oil.

Just speaking off the people I've meet in person, obviously that's a very generalized statement. It's pretty obvious that not all Americans are stupid. In fact I'll show you 10 people that make the guys in the video look like rocket scientists. You're allowed your opinion anyway that's why the forum's great.
