Because getting the license to own machine guns has little to do with how free your state is. Made it sound like you just rolled up somewhere and picked them up in a shop as common practice. The stamps are a Fed thing, not a state thing. That's why I was confused when you talked about moving states.

The state you live in makes a big difference. Many states have laws against ownership of MG's. In IL you can't own a machine gun by state law, in PA (and other free states) you can. There are states where the CLEO don't have a choice on signing for items. I think KY is such a state. Also there isn't a "license" for a machine gun. You send in your forms to the ATF along with 200.00 and it gets transfered to you. You only pay the 200 once, not yearly or anything like that. There is a lot of bad info out there on title II weapons.

Shit for $5k I'll sell you an AR pistol with rifle upper and stock. (Only an AR pistol can be converted back and forth legally, and mine is registered as a pistol and can legally become a rifle and back to a pistol. You SHALL install the 16" barrel upper BEFORE the stock. If you do not you could be caught with a SBR and that's a federal charge iirc)
