Speaking of Chevy colors...
I was gassing up the other day and saw a new Cruze drive by. It was overcast/cloudy and I kind of did a double take as it drove by thinking, "oh my, is that med/dark baby poop brown!?!?!?!" Out of curiosity looked up Cruze colors when I got home. It is Autumn Metallic. I noted that they offer two different blues. Of course they don't have the bright "Impact " colors, i.e. VR, RY. But it did make me wonder who/why decides these things as to what colors they offer. Do they somehow figure that older people will drive the Cruze so no flashy colors? Just can't quite wrap my head around who/why they make the color decisions they do.
![]() Boy a new Camaro in a Topaz blue could be hard to resist. Oops nevermind, I see it's already been discontinued, (gee I wonder why???) So if you want a Cruze in an ugly a** color better hurry up! ![]() 2013 Cruze colors Autumn, Metallic N/A as of 12/17/2012 Black, Granite Metallic Blue, Atlantis Metallic Blue, Topaz Metallic Gray, Cyber Metallic Silver, Champagne Metallic Silver Ice, Metallic White, Summit |

Topaz Blue is actually a good color for the Cruze imo... It is popular around here. And I think the "baby poop" color even looks nice. They used to have VR on the Cruze, not sure if they do anymore

Color availability is dependant on trim package. There are more color options on a LTZ Cruze compared to a LS. Typically the lower trim models get the "ugly" colors.
There are strategies in car colors. For example, car companies sometimes specifically make ugly colors because they know that car will probably sit on the dealer lot for a while. When it doesn't sell, the dealer will advertise a good deal online or in the local newspaper. In small print, the ad will say "1 vehicle available at this price". When the potential buyer goes to the dealer and asks about the great deal they saw, the salesperson takes them to the ugly color car (the car that has the awesome deal). Potential buyer says they don't like the color.....but now they are hooked to the dealer and the salesperson talks them into buying a similar car on the lot (with a higher price). This is a strategy car companies have used for years. It "hooks" potential buyers to the dealer.

I dont understand why Chevy doesnt offer a full rainbow of colors. How hard can it be to change paint at the factory? Check out Dodge Ram heavy duty trucks and how many different colors they offer. They have 3 different colors of yellow, 3 reds, 2 whites, 2 greens and a bunch of other colors.

Well one issue Camaro wise is that the bumper caps are produced and painted at a different vendor facility, and it can be difficult and somewhat costly to get a perfect match due to the different formulations of the paint and flex additives. So that does drive up the costs some. I just think if they'd not started with the Aqua Blue Metallic which scared some off, and started with a Topaz type blue it would have sold better.

Thats said, I'm kinda surprised that automakers haven't more fully embraced tintcoats as a way to expand the colour lineup for a car. Done right, a single tint could add a bit of variation to handful of otherwise plain colours.

Well since they do build the Impala and Equinox there I checked into it. WOW Impala only comes in 6 colors, all Camaro colors I believe.
Victory Red Summit White Silver Ice Metallic Crystal Red Tintcoat Black Ashen Gray Metallic The Equinox has a few more, 11 in all. The problem though would be the outside vendor not producing Camaro bumper caps in those different colors. White Diamond Tricoat Tungsten Metallic Summit White Steel Green Metallic Silver Ice Metallic Crystal Red Tintcoat Champagne Silver Metallic Black Granite Metallic Black Atlantis Blue Metallic Ashen Gray Metallic |

The Equinox is produced in 2 different plants, the other is in Ingersoll Ontario (~2 hours away from Oshawa). That is most likely the source of the extra colours.
