What are your opinions on Chevy Cavaliers?

I'm going to look at a 2005 Cavalier coupe tomorrow with 80k miles. I'm not sure if I care for the looks that much. More specifically, I really hate how the tail lights go all the way across and don't light up like the ones on a Challenger/Charger.

It's silver with hubcaps. :( I think it would look better with a tint and some wheels with black accents.

So any opinions on them? Do you think that they're ugly, sporty, girly?

Decent basic transportation, I have owned a similar Pontiac Sunfire and it was a good car. I like the styling of the Sunfire better. The interior is a little nicer too. But basicly the same car.
Lot of people are down of the Cavalier, but I don't think they were that bad.

Agreed decent transportation. If you can move up to the Cobalt you would get a better car. All depends on the price.

They weren't bad at all for their intended purpose. I think the 2005 had one of the early Ecotec engines. I can't say much for it (I've never driven anything with it), but IIRC, most of those Cavalier engines were pretty much bullet-proof.

My dad has a 2007 Cobalt with the same engine. Within my family (including cousins and uncles), we've had 5 Cobalts. This car isn't really expensive at all. Thinkin' I can get it for around $4100. I'd like a Cobalt, but they're way too expensive. In '07, my dad, who works for GM and got the discount, got a brand new Cobalt for a bit over $7000.

had a 1990 z24 that I bought new was pretty robust for a front wheel drive car, always threw my friends back in the seats. problem was they started cutting the size of them down and eventualy eliminated the V6 in them. didn't have much use for them after that. good affordable transportation in there later incarnations!

Cheap cars tend to be owned by cheap people.
Many Cavaliers were not properly maintained and serviced. Most of them I see around where I live are trashed. Interiors smell like diapers with spilled fast food on the interior etc.
Good luck trying to find a clean one.
Most of the new Cavaliers ended up in rental fleets, so they were doomed from the beginning.

Decent car that makes decent transportation. I wouldn't have a problem driving a clean one for a daily if the price was right.
