Slightly forgot about that....... But
I am talking something more agressive looking. Needs to look lime an suv. And all the "diesels smell and are noisey" people.... Go drive a new one

same thing my mom said when she was sitting in a brand new yukon slt. They other makers offer more luxurious options for the money that gm offer atm.

Argument is over. Chrysler has the most unreliable and least safe vehicles on the road. Period. End of story.

For those that put stock in consumer reports. From their 2012 reliability ratings of 13 manufacturers.

Although Chrysler remains in last place, its overall score jumped eight points, making it the second most improved automaker. Chrysler’s average road-test score also increased by eight points, the most of any automaker, and its overall reliability improved to average. The turnaround can be credited mostly to Chrysler’s extensively freshened and redesigned vehicles.

I really hope so, I have been waiting for that motor since I heard about it.. I believe the EPA sees the diesels as getting too good of fuel mileage and then they try to figure out how they can choke it down.. I had a 2008 6.7L with emissions it did a max of 16-17MPG, after taking all that crap off and putting a tuner on the HOT "500HP" tune I averaged 22MPG, with a best of 25MPG.. Love the Diesel..

I take it you're talking from experience, of an 80s model? or maybe the experience of your cousin's, aunt's, grandfather's, best friends, sister's, hairdresser? had a few jeeps and all have been reliable, GM cars, particularly from the late 90s/early 2000s, not so much.........

The second one I bought used is the one that kept quitting on me. I traded it for an S-10 pickup also very reliable. The third Jeep I didn't know had a problem until it jumped out of park and almost ran away with my son strapped in his car seat. If it had not been for a fence the Jeep would have ended up at the bottom of a Clift.
I have owned probably 30 GM cars and although some had small issues that were repaired, I never had one reliability or safety issue with any of them.
Sounds like my GM experiences. My grand Prix was far and away the WORST car I ever owned reliability wise. In roughly 1 year had to replace cv joints, rebild transmission, driver's side window switch quit, engine started leaking oil, AC went out, speakers in the "wonderful" bose stereo would go in and out, and it is the only car I have had that the interior literally started falling apart in my hands...... my b-bodies were good, but not without issues, had my roadmaster for a year and by 80k miles (bought with 65k 1 owner doctor's car) I had to replace the thermostat because of overheating and had a leaky air spring, not to mention the power steering failed. My 96 Caprice which was one of my favorites, had a fuel pump go bad, ball joints, the window tracks break, and the freaking crappy coolant clogged the heater hoses. My parents 00 Regal is barely better than the GTP, only because the transmission hasn't went out, though it has given them a loud thunk while shifting since they had it. Sooooooo.

The Vette just got a 3rd overdrive on the Stingray 7 speed. Drive a current 6 speed vette, 6th is super tall and more than enough overdrive. Driving one I've never thought... wish it had another overdrive.

And diesels.... can't stand the stench, noise, or fuel price. Pass.
You sir have no clue. A well tuned 8 speed will simply crap all over the 6 speed transmissions. it is not just about having higher gears, but also more tightly spaced gears that keeps the eninge in the powerband. Take the Charger and 300, not only did they gain 4 MPG on the highwayway just by switching to the 8 speed automatic, but it knocked a full second off the 0-60 time and there have been no complaints about the transmission hunting for gears or anything like that.

As for modern diesels, there is no stench or noise and the fuel price is easily offset by the extra MPG, basically any modern VW car can get mid 40s in the MPG pretty easily and they provide great torque numbers.

With the 8 speed auto, the Charger gets 31, 27 with the old 5 speed, which the Challenger is stuck with............. for now.

Diesels have promise. Cruze gets one next year. We shall see how the customers see it.

You now get to add DEF due to NOX emissions.

Trucks, at least also get DPF due to emissions.

And a diesel engine itself simply costs more.

So yep a diesel VW can do mid 40's all day long. But a Cruze ECO can pull 42 all day long. So why pay for a diesel and all it's extra emissions clap trap and the premium for fuel when you can get other cars that get 40 plus?

By the way, the Grand Cherokee is certainly a nice truck. I considered on last year pretty seriously but still a little bigger than we wanted.

And 8 speeds? Yep!! Generally if you match the gearing right, you can get better driveability and put a longer gear on top for FE. But there is a maxmum that makes sense. Otherwise you might as well go CVT.

Agree with all except that people are aceraging mid 40s in the Diesel VWs, 42 is the Cruze Eco HWY MPG only and averages seeem to be in the mid 30s range, all of that is with a 6 speed manual too, the auto is lower.

Well I have a fleet of 24 chevy trucks, all with 500,000 miles on them, no problems and still with the original tires on them! I have Dodges and Fords as well, can't drive a mile without something breaking, they ride like a lumber wagon too! I don't suck at maintaing mine pushing plowing snowI don't know about that, We don't get snow in Michigan anymore

Don't disagree with you. GM typically has lower real world FE than the sticker. Cruze ECO is the only one that I've talked with people that actually get it. Of course they are likely driving for MAX FE to get it. I know our Cruze gets 32 highway when I'm driving in my normal style. I'd have to drive 61 mph to get the EPA sticker............NOT!!!
