Holy hell that was something.
A friend of mine had an equally bad run in a '96 Camaro SS. The synchos were absolutely shot in the transmission and watching him go down the track would make you cringe. Instead of stalling the car at the light though, he broke a c-clip in the rear end. We had to push him off the line and wait for a tow truck. Best part....we were at Import Face-Off. Hard to live that one down. Especially when the Honda guys were changing broken CV shafts in the staging lanes like they were headlight bulbs...

Years ago a guy was daring my brother to race his new Camaro against the guy's chrysler reliant K. They were to race the distance of the driveway at work (about 1/3 mile long). They pulled the cars out the garage doors pointing down the driveway and closed the doors. The race was to start but Mr. K car jumped the start and had to have a do-over, so he backed up to the start and I dropped the flag and he launched again... in reverse.... into the building.
The guy was crying. He then edmitted the car belonged to his wife. |
