If you put the 1/4 cup of fiber one and the half scoop of protein powder in the round one then put the blueberries, or strawberries if you prefer in a baggie and put that in the container. When you're ready dump the berries and yougurt in mix and eat, it's the perfect size for it.

So tomorrow, it's workout - protein shake and then
yogurt 10:00 or so. I'm going to try to get some
Fiber One on the way home.

If you do take note of the ingredients and nutrition label. By adding 1/4 cup you add 30 cals, 17g carbs 2g protein but one of the best things is a healthy dose of fiber. Surprisingly this small amount added to the yogurt along with the extra protein powder and fruit is still low calorie high protein mid carbs and will fill you up and hold you over untill around 1:00. your next feeding time. Plus it tastes good.

That is very good. Normally 1-2 lbs weekly is considered healthy but there are times where you can loose much more in a healthy way. In your case it seems you are eating a sufficient amount of cals, a little light but not bad and stii have energy and loosing, enjoy it because at some point I would think it will taper off, if it doesn't after a few weeks you might want to slowly add a few more cals.

Already got my Fiber One

todays #'s

1423 cal 83g protein 192g carb 38g fat

oops - way too high in carbs
The protein/energy bar from the local market registered
47g carbs. I know they aren't the terrible ones, but I
think the total is too high or maybe the protein isn't
high enough.

Thoughts? Am I catching on????

So that to me means it's a carb bar not a protein bar, lol

Your calorie intake is ok but as you noticed the carb intake is real high. Protein and fat is good. If you do the conversion it comes out to 1440 cals so you're right on with that.

Let's break it down, if you use the 40/40/20 ratio and the calories you consumed

1440 x 40%=576 cals from carbs and protein

1440 x 20%=288 cals from fat.

576 cals Divded by 4g per cal = 144 g carbs and 144 g protein

288 cals divided by 9 cals per g = 32 g fat

Your target would have been

target you
144g carbs 192 g carbs
144 g protein 83 g protein
32 g fat 38 g fat

Everyone's magic combination for fat loss is different so this may work for some but I always recomend starting around 40/40/20 as it seems to work rather well with most, and then from there adjust if/when needed.

As you said, a second week may be telling to see if there is any
additional weight loss. I know the carbs were high in the protein
bar but I thought they were better than the starchy carbs. I
had done an Atkins Diet many years ago and did well, just couldn't
sustain it past a couple years cause I got tired of what you could
eat. I'd like to have balance, but it could be that the protein will
need to go up and the carbs down. We'll see.

I printed my grocery list and I will make my purchase probably
Sat PM. That way I can make a menu selection and do some
cooking on Sun. I LIKE leftovers and for my schedule they are
great.

thanks for all your help as always

you're getting there, all the little changes add up to a big change, a few adjustments on the carb intake mostly and I think you will be fine.

I keep telling you, they are not leftovers, they are previously prepared meals. lol.

Do you have ANY idea how much I HATE math? That gave me a headache reading it.

I like the grocery list though. I like yogurt thing too. I just hope I can find a greek yougurt that tastes better than the one I tried once. We had a Drug rep lunch & they brought some greek yogurt. I tried it & it was so awful I just ate a couple of bites & threw it away. I wish I remembered what brand it was so I would be sure not to buy it.

Any suggestion of a gluten free substitute for the Fiber One? And aren't sliced almonds better for you than the slivered ones? (they still have the brown outer covering of the almond that it supposed to be good for you). I will eventually gather a collection of things I can use to make this work.

Getting involved with crunching the numbers keeps you accountable and the challenge of putting together meals that meet the numbers and seeing the results starts a cycle that keeps you wanting to do better, it get's addicting.

All greek yogurts taste about the same but if you try doing as I mentioned, add a half scoop of vanilla protein powder and a 1/4 cup blueberries it will taste good.

Hi have never looked into gluten free products so I'm not sure what's out there. Do you currently use any kind of gluten free cereal?

I'm not sure on the almonds. I preffer slivered for the extra crunch factor lol.
I think the biggest difference nutritionally might be more fiber with the skin on but not sure. Because they have a high quantity of fat and are calorie dense you are using small quantaties so I don't think any difference would be of any significance.

I'll find something to substitute. The only ones I know of off hand are probably not great choices, Corn Chex & Rice Chex. I'm sure there is something in the "specialty foods" section.

I wonder if something like grenola would be gluten free, if so that might work.
