There is a need for stricter gun control laws.

If you want to avoid gun shootings in schools, you have to stop crazies and kids getting guns. Period. That doesn't stop you or I from getting guns, so why don't we accept that as a nice compromise that makes most people happy?
point is, the stuff I listed(minus the alcohol)are things PEOPLE use as TOOLS to harm other PEOPLE.
has nothing to do with the tool itself
if a person wants to kill they will do it regardless of what tool is available

The cool-down period is there to help stop a person from going to a gunshop so he can shoot his ex, take out his rage, etc. I agree mentally unstable people should not be allowed to own a firearm, but whats to stop a mentally unstable person from stealing one? or buying one off craigslist under the counter? I agree stiffer laws need to be in place in all states, but there are limits to what laws can do.
Obviously if only the purchaser has to do the questionnaire, then he can BS. Buyers should provide several meaningful references who would then be interviewed by a firearms officer over the phone. Mental and criminal histories should also be available to the firearms officer.

In Canada, you need a license to own and buy guns. You can't sell a gun on craigslist to an unlicensed owner. Also in Canada, that idiot's mom would have to have gone through gun safety courses and should have been trained to lock up her guns and ammo.

I don't see what's the issue. You have to be licensed to get a car, why not a gun?

No you cant BS the survey. They do a background check with your liscence, SSN, etc. Its already pretty thorough, and you dont get the gun right away. Your survey is reviewed by the state, and you have the cool down period. And with craigslist, people sell guns with code names, ILLEGAL GUNS. Same way prostitutes and drug dealers use craigslist. In California, you pretty much have to be liscensed to get a gun.

This situation was unavoidable. Even if there was an armed security guard at the school, or a police officer, this guy would have probably taken him out first.

This guy had access to the school, it appears as though he worked there.

We cannot conclude it was unavoidable. In many cases, an effective deterrant is enough for crazies to just move on to easier targets. Crazies just grab what's in front of them, and in this case it was an easily accessible unlocked gun.

What we need is stricter punishment for crazies who think about pulling this crap. I like japans way of dealing with convicted murderers. Put them in a cell with a noose, no food or water, no visitors, no lawyers. Just them, the noose, and the chair. Maybe we should stop handing out life sentences with free food and shelter, and offer people like this to science. stop using lab rats, and use murderers. Infect them with horrible cancers and diseases, then study them. I bet we would make some serious medical advancements.

I'm not saying that, but some people blamed Bush for 9/11
why not blame Obama for the shootings?

again not agreeing with either, just staying in the middle

All of these mass shootings are taking place in "no gun" zones. We need to eliminate no gun zones, because a shooter isn't gonna barge into a location with a gun if he thinks that a ton of other people have guns on them as well. Aside from that something needs to be done about all these shootings and the government needs to evaluate why this keeps happening. Being "crazy" is no longer a viable excuse...there has always been crazy people, but there hasn't always been these horrific events taking place on a regular basis.

This is extremely terrible and I can't even imagine what the parents/family members are goin through. My deepest condolences and my thoughts are with the people effected by this. Truly awful

I agree with you fully, they go to jail and live better than people striving to make ends meet out on the street.Do what the Japs consider punishment.

This kind of thing is sickening and it aggravates me. There is no way this guy snapped overnight and this just suddenly happened. It makes me wonder how people like this are walking around and nothing can be done until the unthinkable happens.

This level of madness is off the charts.

I would like to see the video of the potus saying this please.

I remember everyone was afraid he was his first term. They ended up making it legal to carry inside government buuldings instead. It was crazy gun owners buying up ammo and guns that created the shortage. Now they are saying he will really do it this term....

Lol

A survey in 2007 showed there are over 270 million guns in the US, How do you suppose they do what you're asking? 90 out of 100 people own a gun.

Schools need to stop spending so much money on Sports and Greyhound buses to haul Football and band around in and focus on security. A locked door and metal detector would have stopped it before it started.
