And I see it as someone who thinks they are more important than everybody else solely because of the car they drive. Conversely, if I saw that car in a single spot, I'd think 'hmm, nice Challenger' and that would be it. And if he parked with the rest of the cars in the lot, I might even take the spot next to him to guard that side of his car against door dings for him.

When I see this I think DB, sorry but no matter what car you drive you should park like you learned in driving school. Just because their isnt any other cars around doesnt mean its right, that being said I wouldnt be that guy to go and key his car or anything like that but someone might.

I see nothing wrong with the picture... you're not taking up NEEDED spots. There's no issue there unless you did this with a full parking lot.

no matter what we personally think, taking up four spots is undeniably asking for trouble

That's nothing, I know a guy at my second job, has a Ford Edge and takes up 4 all the time.

What's worse is he talks about his Edge like it's a Camaro or something.... What a douche.....

That's what happens when kids these days are given everything they own and have no respect for hard work

No respect for other people's property these days. Like someone else said, since he's out in the middle of the lot with no other cars around, I don't think it's that big a deal.

Same here... it's a respectable car, people wouldn't respect it if he parked it close next to other cars though, sadly enough.

What of the people who take more than they deserve?

What? Of course people would still respect it if it were parked like a normal car. And I don't think there are anyone out there that parks their car and decides to not damage the one next to them based on how respectable they think it is. They might intentionally ding it because they hate seeing people with nice things, but nobody would avoid hitting it specifically because its a nice car.

Overall, I'd say the chances of getting dinged/scratched would actually be lower if he parked normally in with all the other cars. The chances of it being seen in the first place go down dramatically. It becomes just another car taking up space in the lot. And if people don't see it, they can't damage it. You'll only have the people parked around you to worry about, and the chances that some random person parked by you would damage your car (be it intentional or accidental) are pretty slim. Net result is a handful of people with not much of a chance of any of them doing something stupid.

But park out in the boonies, taking up 4 spaces? Every single prick that enjoys taking others down a peg will see it & have an opportunity to damage it. And you're more likely to cause them to want to take you down a peg by doing that instead of acting like everyone else. More people, with more motivation to damage your car. I don't see how it wouldn't result in a higher incident rate.

As for respect, I've always lived by the idea that you have to give respect first in order to get it back. In this particular case, that means not acting like a dick and taking up 4 spaces with a car. Because that is disrespectful to everybody else that manages to park their car in a single spot. It tells them that you deserve special treatment. That the rules everyone else has to abide by don't apply to you. That your car is somehow more important than anyone elses.

Altho every time i park away from everyone I always come out and find someone who parks next to me, doesnt matter how big the lot is either, so i just dont even worry about it any more.
I dont see anything wrong, if your parked way out in wonderland by yourself then its cool, as stated if you do this next to the entrance, you get what your deserve.

As to the cars parking right next to you when you are out in the middle of nowhere and there's numerous empty spots all around you......sometimes people are dicks just to be a dick.....

The parking lot he is in looks empty. I would have taken up 4 more right beside him. Then we could look like ass hats together. Gotta have a fellow car lovers back.
