I've done a lot of historical Hawk 81 paint schemes for a combat flight simulator; the Hawk 81 was the plane the American Volunteer Group flew in Burma and China, '41 to '42

This is the sort of thing I do. Not often any more, it takes a lot of time, for me at least

I also did a few that were US Army, ex-AVG planes that were flown by the Army after the AVG disbanded on July 4 1942

Some F4Us as well. A dash 1 with a field applied paint scheme

The one and only razor sharp shot I have got of Strega from the pylons. The thing is so damn fast, and using slower shutter speeds for prop blur, it is hard as hell to get a good shot.

All I know is that I would not want to be anywhere near the flight deck the first time that thing lands itself on a carrier....

Nice shot Tim.

Just be thankfull of the almost always blue skys you have to work with. You'd never get any crisp shots of that beast in the moisture saturated skies I often see.
