fun.... busy.... fun... bought 5 rugs while I was over there. 2 hookahs and a bunch of other stuff. I'm currently trying to load my pics from the honeymoon onto my kodak account, but its tiresome. (700+ pics) more to come.

as for the honeymoon. we stayed at the Orsep Royal hotel for around $75.00 a night (which was one hell of a deal as their prices listed at the hotel were for 100 euro/night) we stayed for 11 days.
went on a night dinner cruise on the Bosphorus river, enjoyed some nice belly dancing, and a lot of alcohol.

went to visit the Aya Sophia (aka Sancta Sophia, aka Divine Wisdom) it was the 3 iteneration of the church/mosque. the first 2 burnt down, so the third was built of stone. when the ottomans reclaimed constantinople they covered all the faces of the christian figures. the building was converted into a museum in the early 1920s. it was freaking HUGE inside. the main dome inside is over 100 ft tall. the building is set into 2 levels and when I get my pics/vids loaded, you'll see just how huge the building is. the most intriguing fact tho, is that this huge building with its ornate features and decorations (including the entire ceiling being a gigantic mosaic) was built in under 5 years. (slavery.... what can ya say...)

we also went to the Hagia Sophia aka the Blue Mosque which during prayer times can occupy over 6500 people (another huge building).

and numerous other things that I'll touch on when i post up pics

I've been there a lot too, but never on vacation. most times I was just passing thru and only had enough time to go to the local bar and get housed before climbing on a plane to fly elsewhere. as for Emily (my wife), her parents have taken her all over Europe when she was growing up and me being in the military, ive been all over Europe and Asia as well, so we tried to find somewhere we had both never been before. Initially we were going to do a 12 day Greece/Istanbul trip, but the stuff in Greece just didnt look that interesting so we started looking at Istanbul more and more and just made a whole trip out of it.
