It's a Synergy thing..

Thanks everybody! I always wanted to win just one with Dragonfly. Now that we have it, I can be perfectly happy with just this one win...Although I'll always be competitive!
![]() I had a good day yesterday. A full day. And the car show wasn't the only fortune that came my way. One of those things happened that makes you question how the universe works. And it was a car thing too...! Our Camaro club sponsored a tour of the new LeMay America's Car Museum in Tacoma. I have a friend and former employer, Jim, that I had recently reconnected with. He's a real car nut, collector and tinkerer. In July, he helped me with my air box build, in frantic preparation for the big car show. Long story short, after the show, I got so busy with "stuff", that I never got around to contacting him to let him know how things turned out, and to thank him. I thought about it often, but never got around to it. As time dragged on, I felt worse, and became even more reluctant to call because I felt ashamed and wasn't sure of how I'd apologize for being so neglectful of my manners. The museum tour struck me as the perfect opportunity. Since I knew he loved cars, all cars, I could treat him to a tour as a thank-you gift. I called him, he was able to make it, and along with Jeanette and Maggie, we wandered the massive museum in our own little group. Now, a little background: I worked for Jim back when he owned a sandblasting company. For much of the time I worked there, I was all the employees. I was blaster, painter, maintainence, mechanic, manager, custodial, delivery driver, etc.You get the idea. It was a dirty job, but one of the things I loved most about the job was the variety of things I got to work on. Many of them pieces of history. Antiques: Charlie Chaplin's patio furniture, stadium seats from the old Seattle Pilots stadium, one of the earliest Indian motorcycles ever made, gas pumps an so on. Modern stuff too. Ever seen Deadliest Catch? Those cranes you see them lift the crab pots with; I did 'em from all those boats. And cars...name one and I've probably done it. Here's a sample of cars and/or parts: Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Lambourghini, Tucker, Moon, Packard, Mangusta, Hudson, Kaiser, Willys. Every 60's muscle car. Every vintage car that someone would ever make a hot rod out of. With all that; one car stood out. A vintage Ferrari race car. It came into our shop with an amazing story behind it. It was a basket case. We were told that in it's day, it had been driven by legends like Phil Hill and Carroll Shelby. At some point, the car was in jeopardy of being sold off as part of an estate. (Possibly to pay off back taxes or debt. Not sure the reason.) Not wanting to let the car fall out of the family, the owner's son hastily dug a pit, and buried the car to prevent it from being discovered and seized. Years later, the car was exhumed, and that's how it came to us. We were told at the time that the car was valued at around 1.2 million. Don't know if that was true, but a million bucks, like the name Carroll Shelby, leaves an impression. Fast forward to yesterday. Jim and myself had become distracted (imagine that) while Maggie and Jeanette had gotten way ahead of us. We turned the corner to find them way down a row of Ferrari's. The cars were arranged oldest to newest. As we passed the first one I remarked to Jim "remember that old Ferrari we worked on..." He said "Yeah, but that's definitely not it." I said "Yeah, but wouldn't it be cool if it were here?" We were looking at the second one, when I noticed the name Phil Hill painted on the side. It hit me like a ton of bricks. We had never seen the car in it's completed state. Needless to say, we were elated! I excitedly waved Mag and jeanette over to us, and we posed for this picture. Given the distance and time between the three components of this picture, I have no explanation as to how all three managed to come together at the same place and time. Weird stuff happens like that I guess. But it's still amazing! I apologize for such a long post, but you know me; every once in awhile I tend to ramble. Twenty years from now, I pity any grandchildren I might have. I can see them rolling their eyes now...

Your and Jim's experience all those years ago is part of that Ferrari's provenance. Please reach out to the current owner and provide him or her your story complete with pics and anything you have from yesteryear. You owe it to yourselves, the current owners and the car. Congrats again on your and Maggie's trophy win! Looks like you had more than one [win] yesterday

Notice the exact same signs in the background! I see the express lanes are still closed half a year later.

Since Gary already told a great story about our trip to the LeMay museum, just thought I'd add some pics... I kind of got carried away taking pics of hood ornaments. There were some really beautiful ones!
