Trailblazer SS has a Corvette engine...where?

My cousin bought a beautiful Trailblazer SS. I was so excited to see the Corvette v8 under the hood.

He opens the hood and there's a huge plastic cover....ok.

I take off the cover and still nothing! Is that some adapted version of the LS# engines? Forget about lack of engine dress up, it was just generally unimpressive.

I could hear this in my head

it has the LS2 engine in it. Depending on what year you got, you could get either the 395 HP version from 06-07 or the 390 HP version fron 08-09.

Just remember, you're pushing around a 4600 lb SUV with it, not a 3200 lb Corvette or 3800 lb Camaro. So it's going to appear a little sluggish.

As for cosmetics, that's why they have the cover there, to dress up the engine bay.

Tell that to the Jeep SRT8 owners, those feel significantly faster than my Camaro and generally are…. Stock

That would be the AWD though….

Are you talking about the 425 HP 6.1L or the 470 HP 6.4L?

I could tell you results but it's against the rules.

FYI, the LS2 in the TBSS has a different intake manifold (and it's not real pretty) that's supposed to offer more low RPM torque. With the cover off that intake manifold is fairly hideous looking. A lot of the guys will keep them, as they do work well. They are also a popular swap for the regular 5.3/6.0 truck guys due to the large 90mm throttle body.

Definitely like the old Blazer SSs

Old joke among a few friends of mine were you go from the Pontiac G6 we have/had, upgrade to a GTO then family hits and then you get a TB SS. The cycle of life lol

6.1L and I already know the results.....

A good Camaro driver could easily beat it but an average one won't be able to overcome the advantage of the AWD launch. A roll is different.

Me too...traded it for the Camaro. It sure was a gas guzzling pig though!

on the gas-guzzling pig. I had an '06 and it was a beautiful, comfortable, amazing SUV. Easily the best I've owned.

At 13mpg.
