To the OP , GM actually has openings to fill just about in every department , so go ahead and apply for one that could solve all of that at once

This is what your GM dealer is for. I never have a problem changing or replacing anything on my new cars. LOL

But I think what you're asking for in this case is to make it easier to mod the car (removing the taillight assy). I don't think that's tops on their list when they design it. Changing the tailight bulbs really isn't too hard; simply twist the socket and remove. Yeah it's tight, but no tools required.
Changing the backup lights is a different story!
That's why I removed the rear bumper cover to install my tail lights and back up lamps.

I remember working on something back as a kid, might have been the starter/solenoid on a 350 engine on a 73 Chevy Impala. Really wasn't that bad, but some guy kept going off "damn rich engineers at GM couldn't care less about working on the cars, they get theirs done free, rich bastards, probably laughing at us right now"..........

It's only easy after you know how to do it.

I put in my technostalgia tail lights on my 2012 V6, then took them out and put them in my 2012 SS. While taking them out of the V6 I dropped the 10mm wrench inside and it dropped down into the bumper assembly. I was trading in the car but could not get the wrench out for the life of me and i wasn't about to take off the rear bumper to get the wrench. I left the wrench in there and traded the car.

It is a pain in the @ss to change out the tail lights to put in the techo lights but it can be done. Especially watch out for taking off the tail light bezels. They break very very easily. Ask me how i know :(

On a side note the techno lights look killer!

I dropped the same wrench installing mine, but managed to fish it out from underneath the car. Afterwards I learned from a friend that you can access that area by removing the license plate. There's two large hole behind it that you can reach that area from.
