Here's the scoop. The SS sedan is based on the G8 or Holden. The "SS" is going to be it's own brand just like SRT. The line-up in the works is going to be of course the SS sedan,Trans-am, and GTO Judge. The SS Camaro is being replaced by,yup the Z28.Chevy will no longer have any SS vehicles. They are going back to the Z designation.Z24,Z34,Z71,Zr1,ZL1and so on.

In your dreams. A Trans Am to compete directly with Camaro again? That makes zero sense. GM doesn't have the time or money to start up a whole new brand, especially a niche performance brand. And Chevrolet never left the Z-option packages. I'm assuming you've read the absolutely baseless rumors that just because GM renewed the trademark for Z28, they were replacing the Camaro SS. What people don't know is that GM periodically renews random trademarks solely for the hell of it.

Not in the current market. GM doesn't have room in the lineup for overlap. Before you bring it up, trucks are a different story.

I am just waiting for the name! I would hope that instead of SS they continue the new line up name trends, (Sonic, Spark, and Volt)

Back when the cars themselves were different enough with unique engines they could exist. Then came the badge engineering in the late 90s where with the exception of cosmetic differences the cars were the exact same Camaro/Firebird Z28/Trans Am SS/WS6 With the current market, Im still shocked GM has as many brands as they do. Their just isnt enough room for them. I hate to say this, but look at all the successful Japanese companies, how many brands do they have? Honda/Acura Toyota/Lexus/Scion Nissan/Infinity They have their basic brands, and a luxury brand. Another way to look at it this way is this, would you rather have a bad ass Camaro thats the best in its class offered by GM bc they put the full budget to it, or if they offered the Camaro and the Trans Am and they were both good but not as good as they could have been because they had to split the budget up |
