Honda S2000 CR

Over the last several weeks I've been lusting over the AP2 CR. Needless to say, I've been shopping around, but unfortunately haven't been able to find one locally to test drive. There are a few that are several hours driving distance away, and I'm seriously considering making the trip, but I'm afraid of what I'll do when I get there...especially if I take the Camaro. Any AP2 CR owners or even AP1/2 owners wanna chime in?

Lemme hear what you think!

I swear to Odin this car is all I have thought about, it's getting to be unhealthy. To be clear, if I so choose, it will replace the Camaro. That in itself confers much of my complacency.

If you put a $100k in mods, you could easily smoke a Jetta.

that's a sweet canyon carver. Honda = reliability. Can't go wrong except it will purr, not growl or rumble.

Take off that stupid hard top and spoiler and you have a really nice car. Buuuuut it has an 8,000 rpm redline and that's where you have to go to have any fun. It has very little torque and when I drove one years ago it didn't launch well. But the sewing maching smooth 4 banger was like a motorcycle engine above 6 grand. Also a verrrry small car.

I thought the AP2 had a upgraded 9k redline and a bump in torque for that model?

It's not for drag racing. It is a fine car for short track, auto-cross, canyon driving.

Had an AP1 a few years ago and it was a fun little car. Got more attention then the Camaro does because people didn't know what it was. Really fun to drive around curvy scenic roads, almost like a go cart because it was so small, low, and great feeling of having full control. Strong 4 cylinder got it moving but definitely shines in high rpm. Could be really fun with a few mods. I'm sure the CR is nice but I don't like the exterior additions.

Agreed! The powerplant is a scalpel not jackhammer. There's nothing wrong with either, it's preference. Definitely not a car you take to the drag strip. I'm sure a lot of people will undermine this car for what it isn't, instead of what it was built to do

I'm not a fan of the spoiler either, more so the upgraded suspension over the standard AP2 and carbon fiber synchros in the transmission. The name CR stands for Club Racer, I plan to use it that way.

The AP2 got the F22C1, it features a longer stroke, lower engine redline, more usable power than the F20C in the AP2.

That's why I want it. To me, it is nearly better in every regard to my Camaro. Looks to fit my driving style perfectly. But I'm still on the fence. I love my Camaro.

Thanks for the input! I understand the value of a peaky twin cam four. My previous car was an MR-S 2zzge, and I guess I'm missing that high RPM heel-toe-ing. I'm with you on the exterior styling cues, but everything else the car offers is what I'm really after!

Had a AP1 about 4 years ago I loved that car until I ran it right into the side of a monte carlo but over all there super nice cars I would get another one but I wouldn't trade my camaro in for one that's for sure the camaro is just a totally different feeling to drive.
