Quote "I want to see an apples to apples comparison... " So running the both cars in the same conditions isn't a fair comparison huh? |

And no I don't think the ZR1 would have beat the GT-R in this comparison. Sorry, I could be wrong but I don't see the ZR1 making up over 5 seconds a lap. I'm not here to bash vette's or chevy or anything. However when I see people making excuses for a loss and crying over it I have to say something. |

And I'd request that this conversation end between you two. Civilly, I'd prefer - but you can just stop, too. I don't care. Keep it going and the thread gets closed till the two of you cool off.

Looking again at the lap times, it was 4.3 seconds (not 5) on a ~2 min lap. That works out to a differance of a little more than 3.5%. That is still significant, however to claim that a ZR-1 could not best it is rather hard to believe. The ZR-1 has better suspension and brakes than the Z06, as well as a power to weight ratio that has been improved by nearly 20% over the Z06. Compared to the GT-R, I think it will be able to handle nearly the same in the twisties and dominate on the exit of the turns because of the gargantuan amount of power that it has while weighing 500 lbs less. The Z06 already has better top end acceleration than the Nissan, the ZR-1 will be in a completely different league. However, the ZR-1 will also cost ~30k more than the Z06 and GT-R. And it wasn't in this comparison so all of this is kinda pointless.
Oh, and for those who want to talk about 'well the Corvette lost because it doesn't have this but the GT-R does' that argument is pretty pointless. You could argue that the Corvette would have won if it had turbos or all carbon fibre frame. Yes, but then its no longer a stock Z06, is it? The car that was compared is the car that you could buy off the dealer's lot. There's a saying that I like to use for people that use the excuse of "Well if only . . . " If only your dirtbike had four wheels then it would be a quad. I prefer the one referencing Aunts and Uncles. I had to stop myself though.

If anyone read the wiki link I posted, do you think the community would be accepting of the way the GT-R has its AWD system set up. Please read the link before posting any comments! It is a few posts up. And instead of "breaking tradition" I think the Corvette should do something uniquely American. Take something that is good, and make it like eight times better...Improve on it and make the GT-R look like crap. Furthermore drivetrain loss on this new platform has been found to be only about 1% give or take more than standard RWD drivetrains loss.

Why would you ever pose a question like that in the general discussion part of an AUTOMOTIVE forum. It has to do with cars? Maybe that could be why we are talking about it?
Now back to my question? Anyone please lol.... haha

EDIT: Well it's about what I would have expected. The Z06 is built for the track which is normally kept spotless. The GT-R and Porsche Turbo are built for performance on everyday roads. The porsche has the best/most concfortable interior. The GT-R performed the best overall but has a very stiff suspension which apparantly is stiffer and less forgiving than the z06 while going over potholes/bumps. Each car won in a seperate category, but the car which came closest to the top in all categories was the GT-R to these people. Who's to say MT or Winding Road won't have a different opinion. I would definitely opt for the Vette or GT-R from a price perspective, especially when both perform better according to these conditions. The porsche is more of a status thing in my eyes. Also, I'm pretty sure he is capable of defending himself, or atleast trying to when it comes to the turbo lag issue.

ALL THIS BACK AND FORTH CRAP (THAT'S WHAT IT IS....CRAP) NEEDS TO STOP.
Really...I've never read so much bickering back and forth than over the past few days. This is NOT what we (Camaro5.com) are about. You wanna state your opinion? Do it RESPECTFULLY. You don't agree? You may state so.......RESPECTFULLY. Discussion, folks...that's what we like. We don't like to read bashing and one-upping each other everywhere....for cryin' out loud................. |
