Wow! Bayfield WI and Madeline Island - my family made that trip and the ferry ride when I was 10 or 11. I remember thinking it was pretty cool to drive the car up on a barge.... I left MN at the end of '83; don't recall the last time I'd been to Duluth other than family trips as a kid to the north shore...

I seem to remember big mosquitos up there.....

Give my regards to the Keweenaw, and the beloved setting of my youth, Copper Harbor. And have a pasty for me!

Great pics... I really love the one with the sun setting behind Dragonfly.
I actually have two (would post them, but I don't have them at work), and they're both cool on their own merits. The other one is closer and has more detail, but doesn't include the long shadow.
I had trouble deciding which one to use. They're almost the same, and yet they each give a very different effect. I'll try to post them when I get home, and see what everybody thinks.

You need to go! And make sure you get to the Keweenaw on your way there. Go along Lake Superior too! Whitefish Point and maybe the Soo (Sault Ste Marie) before dropping down to the Straits.

Never mind the mosquitos, it's the dreaded little blackflies that will drive you nuts!

Wow, the only other time I've heard of pastys was when some friends and I were in the UP for some early-spring skiing in 1980 (we watched the US Men's Hockey Team win Olympic Gold). We skied Ironwood, Indianhead, and my fave of all, Blackjack. Those were some goooood eatin'!

Speaking of food, does anyone have any experience/opinions with Turkey Fryers?

I'm having lobsters delivered and I know I don't have room on my stove to cook 10 of these babies and I was considering getting a Turkey Fryer and using it as a cooker/steamer.

Any opinions?

64 and Counting

Had more Hot Cars than a lot of members are years old. Wouldn't trade growing up in the 60's for anything. We older guy and gals can still hang with most drivers, street or track. We like our music loud also, that way we can still hear it.

I have just joined and the knowledge you youngsters have is amazing.
My Camaro is a 12K miles 2010 Indy Pace Car. I started to buy a GT500 but didn't like the way it drove, fast but rough and for the same amount of money spent I can make the Camaro faster.

Welcome aboard Hudson. This is a great place to hang out. We understand each other here pretty well. Nice Camaro! It just gets better from here.

I need grief therapy. :( They are changing my dance exercize class to too late for me to go. I started going to that one in Nashville because the ones in my town moved to so early I can't make it there in time after work. So............ now there is no aerobics, or zumba, or any dance/exercize class I can make it to. Maybe it is what I need to push me to more weight work, but these classes are more than calorie burning to me. They are my stress management, my fun, my group therapy. They push me to be consistent & make me happy. Now I am sad. :( I will look around & see if I can find something else that is at a time I can make it, but it is not looking good.

Never. Buying. Japanese. Again.

Diane, I love the Equinox, too, but won't be buying now - don't want another car payment if I can help it... There are also a few things I don't like - the turning radius SUCKS!! One of the best thing about the Mitsubishi is that it turns on a dime - tight parking spots are never an issue, and less than 24 hours into driving the Equinox, I had parking problems. Also, the LTZ package isn't as nice as it should be for the price. My hubby's Silverado is an LTZ, and it is luxurious. The Equinox just didn't get the same level of LTZ... But, maybe later on when Mitzi kicks the bucket for good, I'll spend a little more time looking around and find the perfect Equinox for me.

1950 puts me at 61, grew up when Rods, Muscle Cars, and cheap gas were a reality. Us "Old Farts", buy hot cars, stay in shape, celebrate our past with respect, and are ready to make this country strong again! When we're not worried about the future we party, brag on our Grand Children and drive Hot Cars! Oh Ya, and every day is Saturday!

Ditto Welcome This place is great therapy.

Jan Start your own class on your schedule and show the youngsters how it is done. I hear you have taught a few a lesson at the Strip.
Congrats on the LittleLeagueTeam's trip to the Final. Those kids have memories of a lifetime and they played one for the ages when they beat CA in the Semi.

LBM glad you got your SUV fixed and saved a lot of $$$
Beach photos were great and the weather didn't throw a curveball at you.
