Aqua Blue Metallic Lives!

I thought Aqua Blue Metallic was totally discontinued on all GM vehicles. However to my surprise, I just discovered that Aqua Blue is still available - on the 2012 Chevrolet Colorado truck!

The color was introduced to the Colorado lineup during the 2011 model year, sometime in mid 2010. That would coincide with the deletion of the color from the Camaro lineup.

Word has it that the 2013 Colorado will not be introduced to the US market until late 2013, if at all. Is it possible that GM could send some of that unused Aqua Blue paint to Oshawa for a limited run of few thousand Camaros? One can only hope!

I don't know if it was ever gone, I read somewhere that when the sunami hit japan, the paint factory was destroyed so the availability of it was gone, now that the economy has been rebuilt they will have it again. Whether or not they use it again is up to GM.

The truck color pickers need to come over to be the Camaro color pickers. Cause whoever killed off IBM and ABM and brought in the kinda dusky grayish blue now available... is color blind. I'll give it half a year before it gets axed for low volume. We can only hope at that time a decent blue comes back to the fold.

I also read when a color drops below 3% of sales on a particular model, if they can't improve the sales, it gets discontinued.

I am ready to buy NOW but am holding out until they bring back Aqua Blue or a similar color. The market is right for Chevy to introduce a vibrant blue to compete with what Ford offers on the Mustang, etc. Make it happen GM!

I think the question is; how much incentive do they have to do it, if total sales of ABM are <3%?

Do we know how the blue on the Ford Mustang sells?

"Blue" struggles aren't new to the Camaro. They axed one of the best blues, "Medium Quasar Blue Metallic" on the 4th generation Camaro in late 1996. Only NBM was available thereafter, with a very very short run of a very bright blue later in 1999.

ABM and MQBM were two of my favorite Camaro colors.

That was for Imperial Blue Metallic...not Aqua Blue Metallic.

ABM was discontinued in November of 2009 (I believe) because sales were very low. I still believe that if GM would have used real pictures instead of the very crappy looking computer rendering for the colors on their website and for advertising, that ABM would have sold much better. But alas...it didn't, and I'm just happy to have mine.

Right. It never was given a chance. When I ordered my car I never saw the color in person. Just saw the crappy renderings and color chips. Saw pics on this site but you have to see it in person.

I took the gamble and went with ABM. Glad I did. My salesman tried talking me out of it but I still did it. My car was built in September then two months later the color was discontinued.

A local dealer has a 2012 ABM Canyon so they still make ABM at least for 2012

Can't be too bad. Mustang has been available in Grabber Blue since 2010 and is slated to continue through the 2014 model year. Kona Blue, another longtime color, was recently replaced by Deep Impact Blue. Ford allows their bright and dynamic colors a chance to develop a "buzz" in the marketplace.

Aqua Blue Metallic on the Camaro could have been a hit for GM, but was yanked way before its time.

Remeber though that the Camaro only has so many color choices because of the other cars that are made at the plant in Oshawa.

Point is, even if it would have sold better, it still may have gotten axed.

that Electric Blue Metallic from the 3rd gens was a sweet color (not sure that was the name but, some will know what I am talking about), i think it would look sweet on a 5th gen.
