Well from what I have read that new GT500? or Boss or whatever? Is supposed to give Camaro's a run for their money - I read this 3rd hand thought so its not quality info...I don't see a point in comparing who is faster though personally. I love all muscle cars.

Oh I think I found it, gear ratios. Camaros are geared at 3.45 while mustangs are 3.55 and 3.73 from the factory.

Ya I think this is what I read about! Something regarding gear ratios.

Alot of people go to the track to answer this question once and for all and do you know what they find out?

There are so few real drivers and racing is harder than they thought and the debate forever rages on.

I believe my stock gears are 3.27's. With the higher numbered gears the mustangs can run faster in the shorter runs such as a quarter mile as the 3.27's are more well rounded. (Ex. My buddies 2013mustang 5.0 pulls on me in 1st through 3rd and I pull on him in 4th through 6th.)

Also the 500+/- lbs is a huge advantage.

Not a big enough hp difference between the two. I can't think of anything else that makes a difference in them.

Stock base model vs stock base model there is only a tenth of a sencond difference in the quarter so it is completely a drivers race at that point.

power to weight ratio and gearing...that's it. Simple math really.

I thought the weight difference was only 250-300lbs?

M6 Mustang GT's come standard with 3.31 differential gears. A6 come standard with 3.15 differential gears. 3.55 and 3.73 gears are optional. However, both the M6 and A6 transmissions are geared more aggressively than the trannies in the SS. Here are the M6 ratios:

First 3.66
Second 2.43
Third 1.69
Fourth 1.32
Fifth 1.00
Sixth 0.65

And here are the A6:

First 4.17
Second 2.34
Third 1.52
Fourth 1.14
Fifth 0.87
Sixth 0.69

So, as grocerygetter said, it is essentially weight and gearing.
