I find it funny everyone calling it slow or an econobox. . This is not a high torque at low rpm car like a big heavy Camaro. You have to keep the revs high to keep the power going. when driven right they do 0-60 in the low 6s and 1/4 mile in the mid/high 14s. Not economy car slow or even close, just have to drive it like it was meant to be.

It may not have the get up and go as a bigger engine car, but it can sure as hell keep its speed and grip those corners. My friend has a black one. If we had a twisty course to drive on, he would lose me on it unless I got plenty of suspension work. It is a blast to drive.

But in the end, it's just another 2 door econobox that's slow as dirt. Sure it can take corners well, but when you're going 50% slower than another car around a corner I sure hope so. Heck, my mom's minivan can make surgical knife precision corners at 10mph through a parking lot...doesn't mean the car is a corner carver.
Actually it can make corners because of this magical thing called "physics". You see, because it has an extremely low center of gravity, it enables the vehicle to make turns other cars just plain can't at any speed.

Really? You're comparing a mini-van to a sports coupe?

BRZ/FR-S FT-86 is already winning awards for what they accomplished in engineering this car. The center of gravity beats the living hell out of anything even remotely close to it's price range. The next gen Camaro, could learn a thing or two about weight reduction and handling from what Toyota/Subaru did with this car.

That said... Toyota/Subaru could learn a lot from GM & Ford about the kind of power people are buying.

Pretty sure that is what they are keeping the STI up their sleeve for anyways. There are already wait-lists of over a year for this car out here. Obviously enough people understand what it is good for.

Might not be AS good looking as the Camaro, but it's not that far behind... And for it's price.. Find a car that is anywhere near as good looking, anywhere near as fun, anywhere near the handling, and as good on gas.

In today's economy with gas prices the way they are, not everyones willing to pony up for the 400-600 HP and the gas bill that comes along with it. Especially when the opportunity to exploit high HP in a straight line is limited for some of the more Urban dwelling folk.

That... n theres a long list of people who have been trading in their stangs , camaro's , vettes , M3's , and cars even more ridiculously expensive/better performing than those... For the BRZ & FR-S... in spite of the 200 HP and basic features/interiors... Just because of how fun they are to whip around in.

Anyway, without comparing it to any other car. It's worth the money, and it's hard to beat the fun. The exhaust note isn't even all that bad (Aftermarket will fix that immensely) it just needs a little more power.. Primarily the torque.

I agree though, being able to accelerate through corners instead of braking, is pretty B.A

If they manage to bring up the power and maintain the handling and decent fuel consumption.. I will be allllll over the STI version of this. Yes please.
