The first one is after I drove it. The second is a picture of the motor as you can see we have chanegd a few things since the Street and Performance fuel injection was JUNK.

So the maiden voyage.....

Of course the first stop was the gas station but then we took off on about a 30 minute ride....Some through town and then some on the open road.

I will preface the rest by saying you can not buy good parts nowadays.....just ain't made good anymore.

Speedometer didn't work....bad Vehicle Speed Sensor..Matt used his GPS on his phone to kinda guide us as far as speed. We got it to about 70 mph...OH YEAH! The front end did not feel like a Sherman Tank and it road fairly smooth...seems to be a slight shimmy in the back so we will re-check the wheels and then the driveshaft...It is minor and did not detract from the overall ride just something we have to check.

Matt sat up the tune as a very basic driving tune, very forgiving and no power to ensure we didn't blow it up but could see what it was doing. He datalogged part of it and now is working on the drivability tune.

We noticed several things during the drive that have to be addressed and luckily they are all minor things that are easily fixable...just a little time and they will be fixed.

The temperature switch went bad so the fan ran constantly..even when you turn the truck off the fan runs, runs, runs, runs....So we have to get another brand new switch.

Starter bedix started acting up...Yep you guessed it...Brand New starter.

Passenger side power window didn't work...wanna guess? Bad Switch

There were several other little things that we noticed but all in all

We have 25 items we will fix but it is at least drivable right now which is a GREAT thing

More to come.........

I couldn't get the gas station pic to load. I'll try again tomorrow when I've got a better signal. Getting pounded with rain right now. Right after I got the car cleaned up.

Those pics look even better on here cause I can see them bigger now!

OK the last post seemed like the complaining post so I wanted to make another about the good.

The truck drove GREAT...We hadn't charged the A/C yet so it was like I was a kid again with just the windows and vent window for the natural A/C Oh how I remember those day...hated traffic but loved ole country roads.

Matt will get the tune correct and the SMALL issues we found are very minor and to be expected.

It had been almsot 12 years since I was able to drive that truck and today I drove it about 60 miles...in all honesty I didn't want to stop but the tune needs to be adjusted, line pressure on the tranny adjusted and the kickdown linkage needs adjusting.

We have several cosmtic things that will have to be done, radio to be installed, fix the interior and paint the truck but at this moment they are un-important.

I drove my truck and I am happy

I sat in ole Hyde with my eyes closed just listenng to the cam echo off the walls of the garage and it took me back to a very long time ago when I would wait in the truck for Uncle Paul for us to go somewhere and how glad I was when we left so the breeze would cool me down and I could hear the truck run.......

I thought of all the people who I so desperately wanted to see ole Hyde but who are no longer here. From my Aunt Connie ( Uncle Paul's wife ) to my Mama who both were taken because of cancer and it made me sad but hopefully they are looking down and seeing it now.

Probably after the fest Matt will have the tune corrected and the parts we need changed swapped out and I will be able to go where I want with it.

If you have followed this from the beginning you know that I have to take Uncle Paul on a ride...I may have to take a Disc player with me but the old country roads awaits our return and I have looked for that for a very long time. Uncle Paul does not know about the ride but I am sure he will be kinda choked as I am now.

I did call him and let him know it was running and a few more weeks to get the fine tuning down so he is excited, if only for me......oh and for him too.

I guess no one can really know what an old hunk of metal known as a Chevy Truck truly means to someone...especially me....Hyde will turn 50 in January and oh what a year long celebration he will have, I will just be glad to be along for the ride.

If it is possible to love a truck I truly love my truck....Not the fastest, not the coolest, not the best in show ( right now) but it is mine...good....bad...or indifferent.

I really Thank Matt for helping me get Hyde fixed and my Uncle Paul for letting me have him...I will truly cherish him the rest of my days and the memories from the past and ones yet to be made.........

CHEVY RUNS DEEP

OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Matt updated the tune yesterday afternoon and added a little power to the motor and we went on another test drive, I was like

Evidentially the initial tune was for about 175 hp and while that was good it is nothing like second test drive....I am at about 300HP and this thing is a whole other animal. Matt said I have about 200hp more that will be added when he gets the final tune completed but wants to ease into it a little at the time so nothing breaks.....the only downside is that it burns alot of fuel cause it is running a little rich and has less timing....once he sets the timing and leans it out a bit to get the A/F ratio back to 14.7 to 1 then it will really be alive.

Drove Hyde to work this morning and it is about a 22 mile trip and he did great. It was a nice ride....

Stopping by the parts house this afternoon to get the temperature switch and then going to the tranny shop to get the kickdown cable/line pressure adjusted. Hopefully they have another speed sensor and can replace that too.

I don't know how he knows that....The motor specs say it has 425hp but Matt said since it is fuel injected with the CFM's we are pushing ( throttle body capabale of 1000cfm) we should be around 500 hp to the flywheel If everything being equal and you lose 18% driveline I should be around 410 to the wheels.

I'm gonna check with Ron and see if they can dyno it just to see once we get the tune adjusted.

Matt called and said he is going to " Do some stuff" to the tune and see what happens...Said he found another table. He called it something but I have no clue.

I am going to try and get some estimates this afternoon for paint and interior so I can move forward with trying to get idiot to pay for all this...That way the lawyer can handle it.

But it runs pretty good right now...I can only imagine when he really wakes it up.

Thanks for posting those pics..they turned out pretty good to be cellphone pics.

I guess the sentimental value and because I actually love this truck makes it more special...So cool to drive.

It has been since last November since I got it back so idiot thinks he is in the clear...oh how wrong he is...Soon as I get the paint and interior, chrome estimates he will be getting a nice letter......
