I think Ted Jannetty ran (runs?) a wheelie popping 4th gen, and has a great reputation with the C5 folks. You might hit him up with questions.

Personally, I'd likely talk to the man that built it for him, and it's up to you to decide if he's above board and honest. Looks like he's been on that site for a while, check his old posts and see if there are any hints of abuse.

You might also go ahead and post in the driveline section here, but be sure and specify it's a 4th gen question, I bet you get some good feedback

Well we got an estimate on fixing the damage from my wifes accident yesterday. Its $1700 but the repair includes removing and installing new hood stripes due to blending the paint. Since the stripes are coming off we asked about having them painted on instead of new vinyl.

The guy told us it would be $800 to $1000 to do that but we could use the $260 that the vinyl would cost to reduce that price. We really would like the painted stripes but I don't know how easy it would be come up with the extra money. What do you all think should we go for it. I think I can get enough OT at work to help offset the cost but I already avg 47 hrs a week now but I could push it to 55 or 60 for a few weeks. I just hate doing in the summer.

One question? Wasn't your wife hit? And does the other driver have insurance and liable for damages? (OK two questions ) I would probably go for the paint if that's what I wanted.
I know what it's like to work OT. Do alot myself, so I feel your pain. That's how I pay for the mods too. One OF told me...use the Visa, free cash for 30 days That way you don't have to push too much during the summer months. I don't know what your working environment is, but mine is keeping up with 80deg and now that it's heating up here in the NW, will see temps of 100+ in the shop.

Yes my wife was hit and the other persons insurance will likely pay the $1700 unless that insurance co tries to argue it. I should know in a few days we would only need to pay the extra for the painted stripes if we decide to do it. We can also stay with vinyl for no cost.

Good evening Linda
You're welcome 02SS#214
zandron263 very sorry to read about your damage.Imho if funds are not where you want them right now, no sense beating yourself to death in the summer if you don't really have to and not being able to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Imho maybe just go with the "free" vinyl. Then save up. You may by then decide on a different color, pattern, painter etc(could cost you more, could cost you less. That is the gamble) Then you can sit back and really enjoy it. Good luck with whatever you decide to do Either way hope your car is fixed soon.

Mr Twisty Wish had a video clip:( It does have a hot Cam. Music to the ears lol
For all of you in the Pacific NW
When arrving last night, this flt was leaving next door. Really hope to get together with you all next year or sooner.

Good night zzzzzz Up early.

I'll pick you up at the airport! C'mon. Get up here!

Zandron, I'm with Skyman on this. Painted on stripes are nice and all, but until the accident you lived just fine with the vinyl. I know it's an opportunity, but it sounds like you'll be spending a lot just to save 260 bucks. At a certain point, the money is not worth the life you have to trade for it. Take it from me & mag.
Enjoy your Summer and your family as much as you can. Paint shops will always be there when you are ready. Life is fleeting.

Thanks Glen. I have to admit it looks great, but some bugs have popped up. I'm going to have to consult some sage experts before I can work them out.
Good to see you here!

And Jay; nope, I didn't mount the plasma permanently. I probably never will because I don't think it will hold up for long with the heat and vibration. My cover is spare that I bought just for show purposes. I've got my plastic piece molded for the top, but I'm having trouble figuring out just how to attach it the way I want it. (I took pics of the whole process, but now I can't find them!) A guy approached me at the show from a company that manufactures carbon fiber and fiberglass aftermarket covers. He was asking me questions about how the cover attaches. Turns out he will need a guinea pig car for test fitting the prototype. Of course I volunteered! I think it will be fascinating to be a part of the process. Just hope he's ready for my advice! I also lined up a ZL1 for him too.

And per your request: My 54.
