Oats and sweet potato. My two favorite cutting carbs! Glad it worked out for you.

I had a bit of brown rice here and there as well. A trainer gal friend of mine convinced me to add those in along with a bump in protein and it seemed to have done the trick.

Now to try ti keep the body fat around 6-7% and put on 15-20 lbs of mass. That'll be a nice magic trick if I can pull it off.

It almost always seems that after low carbing for a while an increase in clean carbs does wonders to jump start the metabolism again.

It's obvious that I believe good, clean carbs should always be included in a muscle building diet, low carbing should be used as a tool for short term leaning such as pre-contest or the such.

Putting on 15-20lbs of lean mass is quite the trick even when increasing body fat never mind while maintaining very low body fat. you've got to eat to grow so achieving both at the same time is quite difficult but can be done.

For real. Most people that I've been talking to say that they best they can do over the long run, is about 1 pound of fat for every 2 pounds of muscle. But I suppose if you did it very, very slowly, that could be a better ratio.

I'm starting to see veins in my pecs and ones in my shoulders popped out a while back but the monitor still hovers in the 7% range. Weight went up a couple pounds this week too but I changed my routine last Monday and have been lifting as heavy as I can manage so that may be a result of the new routine. We'll see what happens next week. I'm not sure I've ever been this ripped. Abs are starting to get those deep cuts around them.

Maxed out at 185lbs on front squats in crossfit last Thurs night. I thought I could get 225lbs but they want us practically sitting on our heels before we start the up swing of the movement. The first rep I stopped like I normally do at bench height, like sitting on a bench, and they wouldn't count it and made me do it again. They're a bit odd with some of their lifts.

Then cracked off the MetCon in 4:42. 3 rounds of:

20 back squats @ 125lbs
20 pull ups
First two on elbows, second two were on hands. The last one, I thought I might die, or my arms might fall off haahah.

So jealous of you Crossfitting... Grrr. My Mom, Skip, and my Dr. ganged up on me and told me to wait until the weather cooled off.... So alas my crossfitting dreams have been postponed a month of two.

Thanks Bonnie!

That is awesome! I'm so jealous! We had to put ours in the barn in storage until they finish the gym remodel - but once they are done its going to be LEGIT! I can't wait to show you guys when its done!

Girlfriend, that girl... Let me at her. You do not look like Miss Piggy, but youre right - Miss Piggy was pretty fabulous! 29'' waist is GREAT! I wear a 27-28 depending on the brand, so youre doing AWESOME! I am very very proud of you.

Hey everyone! Glad to see people passionate about staying fit I've been doing P90x since late April and about to finish my first round. My total loss has been 15 pounds going from 210 to 195. I'm seeing great results but I thought after limits 75 days my abs would be more tone. My diet has dramatically changed from fast food to eating a lot better and drinking at least two gallons of water a day. My question is does anyone have advice for my problem with abs? It's kind of disappointing after bringing it all this time. I can't wait to start my second round -Alex

Seeing your abs has very little to do with your training, and a LOT more to do with how you're eating. There is a saying that is "Abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym". What kind of things are you eating that is "a lot better"? For some people, "a lot better" is still kind of crappy

God I knew someone would say this my diet could be a whole lot better but the nutrition guide I got with the program is well...difficult, soo being a typical teen, I didn't even try if I could have a diet more simple and easier to follow I would jump on that in a heartbeat would you know of a good one? Thanks for the Honest comments

Haha well sorry to bust your bubble, but there really isn't an "easy way" to diet. Especially if you like lots of variety. At first, just cutting some calories out will be plenty. But that part won't last forever. But, as a general rule of thumb to make things simple...

Lean meats (chicken, turkey, fish, sirloin steak, etc)
Brown carbs, no white ones (rice, whole wheat, oats, pastas, sweet potatos... if the color is white, stay away from it)
Healthy fats (cup of milk, almonds, peanuts...)
Green Veggies (broccoli, spinach, asparagus, romaine lettuce...)

And stay the hell away from soda, candy, fast food, fatty meats, and processed foods in general. And ONCE per week, have ONE meal that is... well pretty much whatever you want.

The hardest part is counting calories. There is lots of info in this thread on how to do it. But you really should do it. Getting that 6-pack is lots and lots of hard work. The leaner you get, the harder it will be. BUT... totally worth it when you look in the mirror in a couple months.

Agreed....abs are made in the kitchen!!! You can do all the core exercises you want and you won't see results if your diet isn't clean!

So, this is on topic, yet off topic...as I mentioned earlier, I will be doing the Austin Tough Mudder in October. This is one of the many obstacles I will be going through during the 10 to 12 miles of obstacles.

Now here comes the off topic part...I am doing this to honor our nation's heroes and to help raise funds for the Wounded Warrior Project - a non profit organization that honors and empowers Wounded Warriors who incur service-connected wounds, injuries, and illnesses on or after September 11, 2001. If you would like to support me and help me raise funds, please go to https://register.toughmudder.com/fun...aiser=r4779133 No amount is too little! Thanks for your support!!!
