-better towing
-more horsepower, but in my opinion HP means almost nothing with trucks

So it really boils down to this, which one do you think looks better inside and out? If you want a truck to last a long time with minimal repairs go with Ford. If you need very high towing capacity go with the Chevy.
Sounds like you had some reliability issues with the chevy?

Ford has the 5.4, which is a good engine. I just think the styling is very bland.

My dad has an 05 ram 1500 hemi, it has been a great truck for 100k miles so far. I love driving that truck.
My brother has an '11 ram 2500 hemi, so far so good.
Another thing to consider is the better warranty with the ram and silverado.

Don't believe the 5.4 is available anymore. Choices are:

3.7L V6 302 HP @ 6500 & 278 lb/ft @ 4000
3.5L V6 EcoBoost 365 HP @ 5000 & 420 lb/ft @ 2500
5.0L V8 360 HP @ 5500 & 380 lb/ft @ 4250
6.2L V8 411 HP @ 5500 & 434 lb/ft @ 4500

When my Uncle visited his brother and drove his F-150, he came home and ordered one for himself. This from a man who has to get the fire department out with the jaws of life to open his wallet.

It rides just as good. (But, I like to know I'm in a truck so I don't pay that much attention to it)

Ford is airtight, no rattles groans or squeaks.

Here is the old gmc,

then the current f150. And I second the fx4 vote!

Just go drive a new f150 and see. I got the 5.0 though, the ecoboost was $1250 more when I got mine and it just wasn't worth it to me. I don't drive much so I would never make up the difference in mpg's. I get about 14 ish in-town and between 18-22 hwy depending on all the normal mpg factors. But again, it's a truck and if I wanted good mpgs I would get a prius.

Of course i am biased because i have one, but: You don't sell as many f150s as ford does if they are bad. Just saying.

If you add the GMC's and Chevy's, you will be really close to the numbers of the F150, if not more.

I dunno i think the Ford F150 is quite ugly for a truck Dodge looks the best but is pretty bad in reliability Chevy/Gmc looks good performs good and still is reliable as well. Ive always like the Chevys as i am a chevy man but i hope they come out with something competitive engine wise cause Ecoboost is no joke maybe a Diesel options i know u have the engine already Gm just release the trucks with that and then u will see the sales.

Since when.........a lot has changed since the 80-90's.

The 3rd and 4th gen Ram's are reliable as heck and dang near bullet proof according to the Four Wheeler magazines that beat the tar out of their long term testers. I was a lube tech for about a year and most GM trucks felt sloppy and in serious need of repairs once they hit 115,000 miles, and much sooner if lifted. Sure they feel great when brand new but wear out quickly.

My dad got a new Ram back in 2008 when they were offering it with a free lifetime power train warranty and not a single thing has gone wrong with it. All he does is put gas in it and change the oil regularly if you catch my drift.

i've actually heard better real world mileage reports with the 5.0 than the ecoboost. most people i talk to are actually getting poor mileage with the turbo 6.
