I don't think he had a special edition Shelby, and I don't think it's been customized.

I think he's either a liar or an idiot.

Ford does not make a "Shelby Cobra". All of the modern GT500's are officially "Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang". Because the top tier Mustang in the previous generation was called a "Cobra", a lot of misguided people want to place the same name on the top tier Mustang offered in the current generation.

Base model was 375 HP I believe.
There is no naturally aspirated 400hp V6 from Ford, Shelby American, or anywhere else to be found. OP said there was no turbo/SC, though they didn't say if the car had any particular markings; the Terlingua had a (non-optional) Paxton on it, worth 375hp; the SA site mentions no 2013 models; on and on.

How far will people go to make exceptions for some poor deluded individual who thinks he has something he doesn't?

Actually Shelby does a few unofficial cars and then he does a few of them. It was the way he did things and Shelby American followed. There are indeed non-turbo V6 Shelby's out there with at least 2 I know of, one showcased last year at the pre-Woodward event, and one sitting in a race shop not all that far from here. Also the specs of 375 applied to the '08 Version which was indeed turboed. Then have long since surpassed that output.

Oh and the guy may have been full of it, or maybe he wasn't completely informed although he did have a hghi output V6. I didn't meet him so I won't pass judgement. But I will comment it was possible, if improbable. The interesting thing, had Shelby lived is that the upcoming Ford Shelby's would have featured smaller displacement high output motors as that's where Carol's interest actually was even if his followers all wanted big fire breathing V8's.

PS, if you were at the Shelby booth at NAIAS you would have seen one for yourself although you are correct it currently is not shown on the website.

The model features a deep draw hood, 20” anthracite “Razor” wheels and a comprehensive styling changes including a logo with the Terlingua rabbit "Lucifer".

The package is applied by Shelby Automobiles in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Wow never knew that. Random as balls actually...

It's kind of like someone who has a Ferrari, but really has no clue what engine it has. They just know it's fast.

My Shelby has a V-something. They are too busy counting money at home to care about specifics. I wouldn't care either if that was the case...

Hey this car on the lot looks cool. how much is it? I will take it thanks ! Here we will pay cash for the entire thing.

Dyno sheet from my Flex...

BLUE = Stock tune
RED = Livernois Tune
GREE = Livernois Tune with methanol

Flex is all wheel drive... we have also tweaked the tune a bit more... so at the crank we are probably looking at around 470 HP and close to 500 ft/tq...

????

That is like a 30-40% drivetrain loss. I think 470HP and 500TQ are a bit high for crank numbers.
