Do you think these sites are Free? They need money either from members of the site or from Vendors to keep them operating...

Again, I don't know that I can ever say anything to convince those that think this otherwise, but no.

I've never received money from any vendor to me personally that was not handed over to the site owner.

We had a few vendors pay their booth fees at the fest in cash to me when they showed up. I then deposited that money in my account and cut a check to the site owner for the exact amount.

Again I can't every prove this. But I'm sure that if I or any moderator took money from a vendor on the side, Tran would send us packing as he should do.

Maybe it helps maybe it doesn't. The moderators are chosen from the members... it's not a job that we apply for, Tran picks them from members based on his own criteria and to a lesser degree, our input.

We don't know that we are being considered for a mod spot until we are asked to be a mod...

Again, The money this site generates ALL goes to Tran. Moderators do not get a cut.

But moderators enforce rules that are set by site owners, so if the site owner is recieving money from vendors then guess who the site owner takes sides with and enforces rules based off that.

Look you've made your mind up about us... I'm not ever going to have any proof that you will deem worthy of changing your opinion.

But one last attempt at an explanation...

Another little known fact: Moderators are not to deal with Site sponsors when they violate rules.

Tran is the only one who does that.

Now when vendor bashing takes place we typically move those threads to the correct forum. But you are right we don't allow endless vendor bashing. Once a thread like that runs it's course we close it.

Vendors pay to be here, they expect some protection for their money. And don't think vendors don't get banned for unethical behavior. It has happened numerous times we just don't discuss it.

For the very reason you suggest... I have pedders stuff on my car. It would be hard for me to moderate a thread where BMR, Pfadt, and Pedders are going toe to toe.

So we, the mods, will typically report those events so tran can deal with them.

The ONLY time mods deal directly with vendors is when we buy something or at the Fest.

Wasnt trying to hide anything, but like you said vendors get banned as well but it just never gets discussed thats the main problem I see threads get closed people get banned without explanation as to why a thread was closed. I think that is what people get confused about, sort of like spanking your child for something he did wrong but he doesnt realize what it is.

OH man... let me tell you... I HATE that rule... Our lives would be so much easier if we could post up why certain people were banned or expose the back story from some of the silly controversy that gets stirred up.

I would love to give our side of the story in response to some that love to thrash this site...

But I know why the owner prohibits it. People want to know that we will protect them even if they are at fault. A lot of times we are making an effort at being professional and following our own rules when we don't give an explanation.

But I do think it is a double edged sword. It makes us look like we are hiding something..

I can say this. It ain't gonna change...

I'm starting to think you might be one of the folks the OP is talking about...

You seem to have left out quite a bit of our conversation... I thought you were the type of person that wanted to expose "both sides" of the debate.

So in the interest of fairness here's my side.

I made a post saying there had been some clean up in a politically oriented thread. And I (in my own opinion) politely asked for some understanding from anyone who had posts deleted and to please not take it personally. I issued no warnings, infractions or bans. The thread was on a good track and I felt it was worth the risk to leave it open.

The posts, more than yours, that I deleted were of the kind that usually bring in the less than mature who then get the thread closed. However I left your's and other posts quoted in the thread. I didn't silence you or anyone else. I left your comments just not in the form of a post that could be quoted.

And for the record the post I deleted that I left quoted, contained a video from the most polarizing person in all of American politics/documentaries Michael Moore. The fact that I left it up at all should show at least some willingness on my part to keep the debate open. As he is well known for enraging his opposition. And there are plenty those here who can't stand him as I'm sure you know.

I think it's pretty easy to imagine the response he gets and how that would lead to the end of the thread if allowed to be used as a launching pad for those unable to be mature...

All of this was a judgment call on my part. I saw potential for disaster so I attempted to avoid it... We/I do overreact/overprotect the site at times. All I can do for that is apologize. I was hoping all would be reasonable an I almost got my wish. Save one... You.

You seem to want a special set of rules that only apply to you. You seem to want special consideration... I'm not arrogant enough to think I can apply the rules evenly to 60K people... I wish I was that good but I'm not.

Once thing to note, We don't allow threads on camaro5 bashing other sites.

This is probably our biggest failure as staff here. We used to be able to bump threads and point people who may be able to help to threads that are asking for it...

We just don't see them as much as we used to.

I wish there was a quick way to fix that.

Thanks for the response. However, I respectfully disagree. The clip you left was not a Michael Moore video, it was a trailer from another film maker about the subject being discussed. I put that video there because in a earlier post I left short clip from a Michael Moore film which of course people said he's biased. So I gave them another source. Then the thread became a union bashing fest, which is right out of the Faux News handbook. So, I posted a news clip from a local Detroit station interviewing folks basically calling Glen Beck a fool for saying the same things. I'm sure you know he was at one point News Corps loudest voice. Well you deleted that video too. However you left all the union bashing comments which ironically came from two very respected members of C5. They made good points and so did I. Neither side was being rude or disrespectful. I even made a comment about how those threads are like fun family political discussions.
After your edit, there was only one side left and there was no point in my continuing the discussion.
Anyway, I've said my piece and I think we should just agree to disagree. I'm gonna drop it and get back to enjoying this site for what its for, the love of our Camaros. I think we can agree on that.

What you dont realize is the volley of new information that gets added. I search threads all the time MOST much older and outdated. What is relevant then isnt always now.

The best intake two years ago is not the best intake now. Those badass 4.10 gears everyone what installing may be failing.

There have been countless times on duramaxforum. com where I ALMOST took old advice that would have put me into a pickle.

I have obx headers and would recommend them. 2 yrs from now I may HATE them quality wise.

Some questions could NO DOUBT be answered with the search button. However having recent and faithful reassurance goes a long way when spending your hard earned coin.
