I dont know if you guys know this yet or not but Motor Trend is doing their Best Drivers Car Competition right know around a track and a new Camaro ZL1 & 13 Shelby GT500 are in the test so we will find out which car is better around a track for sure in this test its a longer track and they are going to rank every car in this test like last year from worst to best. I bet the ZL1 posts a better time than the Shelby going by how it did in the Inside Line test. There are other cars in this test as well like the Nissan GT-R and others the videos should be up within in the next week or so along with the full comparisons for each. We will see how these two cars compare to other super cars as well!!!

The Shelby is faster down the drag strip due to it being a lighter car BUT other than that the ZL1 seems like the better car.

Don't get me wrong. I love camaro's, but in what way is it better car?

Power Output? GT500
Weight? GT500
Acceleration? GT500
Fuel Economy? GT500
Forged Internals? GT500

Transmission? ZL1
Handling? ZL1
(This is based on the review posted. No track times to confirm and transmission feel is subjective).

Even if you can make an argument that the ZL1 has better cooling for track use, then it's still a toss up on what's important to you. Do you visit the drag strip more than the track? Do you want the most fuel economy you can get? Is reaching 200 mph important to you? Do you want the extra strength of a forged engine? The GT500 isn't a bad handling car either. Why is an advantage in handling make something a better car isntead of an advantage in weight, acceleration, top speed, and fuel economy? It's not like the GT500 handles like a brick. It's also an excellent handlng car.

Every time somebody brings up fuel economy in these discussions I cant stop laughing. I'm certian that FE is at the top of the ZL1/GT500 crosshopper list.
Only thing over the ZL1 the gt500 has going for it is its faster with its newer motor. Thats it. The MRS is so good its in an entirely different league for ease of use and performance/comfort. And even after that you have to deal with the not so good exhaust note out of the 5.8. Abit better of a SC whine though.

Don't like the way it sounds. Same with the 5.0. Its missing something for me. Too light not enough bark. Firing order maybe? I mean even the old 4.6 sounded better.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion, and the topic of exhaust note IS indeed a matter of taste.. but still

I think this is one of the best sounding STOCK exhausts I've ever heard.

Let's see if I can find a video

Oh, here, this one is fair.

Looking foward to the results. Motor Trend seems to side with the newest thing to hit the market, but I'm sure they'll have plenty to say about the ZL1.

Laugh all you want. Better fuel economy while still having your fun and acceleration = more money in your pocket for mods.

I still want to know how much new MRS shocks are going to cost when its time to replace them. What's the price on those?
